Micky Martyn - Last pick in draft, drafted at high 70's.
Troy Longmuir- Draft pick in the high 50's - 60's.
Callum Chambers - Draft pick in the mid 50's.
David Teague & Digby Morrell - Corey McKernan.
Brett Johnson - Draft pick 51.
Glen Bowyer - Draft pick in the high 60's.
Jason Saddington - Draf pick in the mid 50's.

So we haven't really lost much at all with these deals have we?


Look at what teams had to give up to get these player
Pickett - 2 draft picks
Simmonds - 5 year contract plus a second round pick
Guerra - PSD draft
Thompson - 2 first round draft picks
McPhee - Blake Caracella

A fair bit given away to gain some average players.

Teague and McKernan were not too bad in their first years for us, so it proves they did have something to provide.

And don't tell me we didn't all think at the end of 2004 that Teague was gonna be a gun.

Shlomo as mentioned in other replies... we got these players using very late picks.. and some of them were picked when we were not allowed a PP and First round pick.

I'm sure if Goddard and Wells we're available at pick 40+ Pagan would have selected them instead of others.

Shlomo, could you please get off your high horse and make some positive suggestions? Maybe have a look at my trading thread if you're so peeved with the trades we've made in the past. Anyway, as everyone's said, he gave away SFA and got just a bit more than SFA so I think we won out.

Why dont you put your thoughts into something positive, instead of just doing the easy thing and taking pot shots!

Yes Aaron Davey was featured in late trades.. but so was James Hird... and many others.... you could even look now and go that it was a joke that Chris Judd was pick 3 not pick 1!

Sometimes a good player cannot be valued by what number they were selected in the draft.

I don't think anyone expected Teague to be a gun or match winner. Just a solid, courageous support player. He was largely unknown in 2004 but once he became better known he got worked out and easily exploited. He's too short to play on a key forward & too slow to play on a small forward. Can't see him as part of our future if we're going to go anywhere. He was traded for Mckernan, who was well past his best by that time and we also got 2 years out of Morrell, so we're slightly ahead, given that McKernan has now retired but not by much.

I would have rathered high draft picks (and possibly youth) than Martyn, Longmuir, Johnson, Bowyer and Saddington. 3 out of 5 players aren't even at the club anymore! Longmuir and Saddington may as well join them because they wouldn't be in my best 30 players at the club, let alone best 22!

And Digby Morrell could play at both ends of the ground. What the hell was Pagan thinking sending him to the Bullants permanently?

I just hope the club does not pick too many recycled players, (if any) in this years draft. The evidence beforehand suggests it won't work. It hurts me to say this , but, because the game as we know it has changed, we need to go with the athletic types first who can run like the wind and carry the ball, (Say, like "keepings off") before thinking about recruiting the old style footballer types.
