Hi all,

Since we are on the topic of EVERY player who is remotely on the trade table thought I may as well post Palmer.

Since some are keen on Mundy, Palmer who was a stand out in his first year seems unhappy with Freo and channel 10 reported that he is on the trade table.

This may or may not be a bluff, maybe Freo want to put Palmer / Tarrant as I trade package? Who knows.

Either way this should be one hell of a trade season, lets hope we fire up in it!

bring on 2011!

no way - the kid cant use the footy simple

we have enough of those

Palmer is an out and out star. Don't think his kicking is as bad as people make out. 10 times the player Carrots is. Yes please but teams don't let kids like him go cheap.
Disagree... I actually believe Carrots is a better kick... Carrots can also find the ball more, can run out the whole game and can shutdown a player...

Palmer would be the last player I would want to get... yes he can get the ball and good for depth... but Palmer would demand so much for a very small return... I would avoid... unless it's incredibly cheap... which it aint gonna be

They wouldn't take pick 18 for him, and even that is getting very expensive IMO

We are talking about Rhys Palmer? Rising Star winner, pick 7, missed 09 through injury, that bloke?
That's the one... the one that dominated in a piss weak midfield because he had a lumbering ruckman feeding him the ball... that does ok through traffic... then turns the ball over... the exact one...

Which would mean: Rising star winner = Premium Price Tag
Improvement factor = minimal when compared to others his age
Hurting opposition factor = negative, he'd hurt his team more

I keep tags on players that are in my supercoach team... so I watch them closely... Palmer first year and Palmer third year equal Palmer can't kick... it was ok during his first year, cause they had no one better than him... now he isn't in their best 22...

Don't get me wrong... handy as hell to have... but a current price tag, complete rip off... two years from now, he'll have a very small price tag imo

No thanks to this trade.

A well known party boy who loves to enjoy life with his mate Masten.

Do not want

Sounds very similar to Swan (except without the rising star in his first year.)

Likes to party; can find the ball; disposal is questionable; can run all day.

I would love to have him but highly doubt we could make any kind of decent offer bar putting up one of our young guns up for trade, which I'd rather not do.

Anyone that thinks he is not a complete star must have quite a short memory. Brilliant in his first year, ACL, and then did not come back well. I am sure will have a great season in 2011 unless Freo know something the rest of us don't regarding his knees. However, Freo would want a great deal to shatter their dream of Palmer at Sandilands feet, with Hill running outside.

Goal-kicking midfielders aren't excactly queing up at Visy Park, and i'd be having a look at Palmer. Players don't exactly lose their skill, and given he won the RS only two seasons ago, you'd think if he had a big preseason, he'd come back to somewhere where he was. Freo would probably want too much for him, but i'd still enquire about him.

Harvey pretty well put this to rest but his name seems to pop up anyway.

His deficiencies are take off speed and goal kicking (obviously!). His confidence was pretty well stuffed this year post recon return, then the Barlow incident. This was reflected in his poor decision making. In his first year this was not really much of an issue.

If he was to be offered we would request too much for most clubs so it would not be worth the debate. IMO it would need to be a player like of Mitch Clark, Tate Pears or Yarran or a pick around the 10 mark. There would need to exceptional circumstances for any club to move on that.
