Pat Benatar

Just got my tickets to see Pat Benatar in October. Truly one of the queens of rock and by all accounts in full voice at 57 and performing constantly. For nostalgia's sake, even happy that the Bangles are touring with her. Checked out recent pics, they are still looking hot.

This on top of having my tickets for Blondie and the Pretenders in December.

What a walk down memory lane for someone stuck in the 70s and 80s musically.

Best of all, I get to introduce my wife and daughter to some classic performers. Maybe too much estrogen around but I would have regretted it big time if I didn't get to see them at least once, especially Blondie as they are my all time faves.

Bank balance has taken a fair hit, but you just can't buy these sort of memories.

Psyched!

Blondie/Benatar would have been a great double although I'm sure I'll still enjoy The Pretenders.

No real interest in The Bangles though.

So much estrogen in fact you will grow a vagina on the side of your head

i like pat benetar but 80's music depresses me for some reason

For me The Bangles would be the highlight of that show. Love their retro 60's sound:thumbsu: Did a great cover of Simon & Garfunkels "Hazy Shade Of Winter".

That's the thing about music I guess. It is a trigger for many emotions. I find marked differences between 70s music, then late 70s to early 80s, and then the late 80s changed again. Much of the late 80s I could take or leave back then, but appreciate more now. I love most of what came out in the late 70s/early 80s though. Just gives me an adrenaline rush to hear it. Must relate it to where I was and what I was doing.

Not sure whether it was all about sexual attraction for me back then as I really do seem to favour female artists from my early to late teen years. I do like their music but usually liked them as well. Throw in Joan Jett, Lita Ford ... generally chicks who had an edge to them.

Yeah I liked that cover. I wonder if they would do it, as they would favour their original stuff.

Also as Michael Steele has left the band and they all were considered equal lead singers (despite the songs the record companies favoured for release that had many assuming Susanna Hoffs was the lead singer), they may reduce the amount of songs that she sang.

The Petersen sisters and Hoffs still look pretty fine after having kids and settling down into life.

I like her songs but I've only heard "Hit Me With Your Best Shot", "Love is a Battlefield", "All Fired Up" and "We Belong". The rest of her catalogue isn't that well-known.

I thought her first big single We Live For Love would be well known. Great cover of The Young Rascals You Better Run, Fire and Ice, plenty more.

"Heartbreaker" and "Hell is for Children" are classics which she regulary performs live :thumbsu:
