Not sure If It's already been mentioned but Patrick Mills the young Aussie point gaurd scored a game high 37 points In only his forth college game..

Not a bad effort!

On Sports Tonight they showed him running amok for St Mary against Oregon who are 12th overall team. When they won the entire crowd went nuts and basically poured onto the court and I mean everyone. It was great to see.

Yeah, he dropped 37, had five dimes and has a very pure three point shot it seems, especially around a screen.

I gotta say I'm very excited and it's great to see some indigenous talent coming into basketball. And to think he's just a freshman.

It was said that seven pro scouts were in attendance. Maybe he knew. lol.

Yeah crowds always run in after college games. Apparently it was the record for points in a college game by a freshman and was the 5th highest or something like that, point total for a St Marys player.

SEN were asking if Mills would be the first aboriginal player to represent Australia if he is selected. Someone rang to nominate Danny Morseau who played for St.Kilda and Australia in the 1970s.

I have been sending SEN text messages trying to tell them a player named Michael Ah Matt, a full blood aboriginal, represented Australia in the early 1960s. He represented Australia in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.

Stupid KB wouldn't acknowldege it. I guess because he wasn't a Victorian it didn't count :)

Michael was a brilliant player for South Adelaide who was going coast-to-coast long before the term was conceived. I know ... I used to chase him up and down the court :)

how good is this mills kid i dont know a heap about basketball but does that performance suggest he could and i say could be a high draft pick???

and could he nominate at the end of this season?

how rare is it 4 a freshman to dominate a college game like he did?

Yeah, I mean he did it against a bit team and he's only playing for a small team. I believe that Gonzaga is in their conference too so lets see what he goes against them.

Freshman can dominate and its a bit more normal nowadays becasue you're not allowed to go into the draft from high school anymore. Still, freshman from Australia isn't the normal way and to be a point guard means he has to have skills as opposed to a 7 foot frame and little talent. You should be excited.

He has been likened to Tony Parker which is a huge compliment considering his missus too but that 37 points was their 4th game, I think they've won 5 in a row and it seems he'd be the big man on campus at the moment.

Go Millsy and the St Mary Gaels!!!!!!!!!!!

at 5'10'', i cant see him becoming a high draft pick, however he could be taken in the 2nd round and become a solid 2nd or 3rd string pg in the NBA, in a similar mould to Nate Robinson

Not taking away from his performance which was very impressive

What are you talking about?

Oregon may play in a small conference but there were still ranked 12th in the nation however Gonzaga (go you bulldogs) are only ranked 14th

But St Mary should get some national votes after yesterday win but wont make the top 20 as they haven’t played anyone of note (before yesterday).

Oregon do not play in a small conference at all. They play in the Pac 10 which has been ranked the number one conference in all of College Basketball this year.

Sorry I meant the West Coast Conference that St Mary play in a small conference (didn’t do enough research). You are right the Pac 10 is a big conference but that give my argument that Oregon is a lot more than a bit team.

I was about to launch into attack mode also, but I think he meant "big", not "bit"

Thanks for the cleanup on the boards there guys. I definitley meant big not bit. The t and g key are used by the same finger. If you look my original post, I actually said that Oregon were 12th overall in the nation and that's why I was even more excited. No harm, no foul.

Go Paddy Mills!!!!!
