I genuinely believe it was to try and snare a SANFL flag, weakening a rival in the process. There's no other explanation.

We picked him because he played an absolute blinder against us in the SANFL once that he never repeated and was a massive outlier.

Sholl was very good this year, particularly in the back half of the season.
Sholl definately managed to get involved more...and at both ends of the ground. His running efforts were excellent.

My problem with him going into the future is the lack of hurt he inflicts on the oppo. He'll probably be selected round 1 but I'm not convinced he's a lock to hold his spot this year. There are genuine options emerging which I think will put him under pressure.

He's a low impact accumulating grunt. Exactly the type that our club rates above everything else.

Eh, Sholl isn't doing too badly in that department. His offensive production in 2024 is comparable to guys like Josh Daicos, Blake Acres, Brad Hill, Massimo D'Ambriso, or Ed Langdon who are all firmly in that 2nd tier of wingers in the league at the moment. Providing Sholl can back up his 2024 with a similar 2025, production-wise, I would be very surprised if he didn't end the year as a locked-in best-22 option.

What makes or breaks Sholl is his inside game. He's getting better at it, but it's still only average - and is a bit below the other wingers I listed. To the point that if this area drops, it likely doesn't matter what Sholl is doing offensively, seeing he's not bringing a point of difference like leg speed to the table. The other breakpoint is defensively, as Sholl is not great at this aspect if he isn't intercepting - though as it stands, Sholl is tied for 8th in intercepts per game for midfielders.
