It was 25 years ago. We were 7 goals up at the mcg in the second last game of the season. We had magery medalists , fos William medalists and brownlow medalists as well as a heap of all Australians. We had premiership and state captains. They said the big stage got to us

Bullshit

And we had godra (spell check changes it to modra)

We got rolled by a corrupt vfl in the second half. We got rolled the week before against cheating Carlton the same way

Next year with some star recruits we were expected to dominate. Players like ricciitto and hart closer to thier 21st

By the bye our season was gone and the coach not far behind

In 2006 we had a big lead in the prelim and the vfl again stepped in We did have severe injuries. However we were clearly better on the day. Yes a star player of theirs or 3 was on meth. Still we were better and blew an opportunity

Conversely had an opportunity again stolen

It was downhill from there for another few years

In 2012 we had a defendable lead late in a prelim. Again rolled by umpires .

Two years of misery followed.

In 2017 we were so far above the rest of the competition we could of beat state sides.

Rolled in the granny by a nothing club backed by the vfl umpires. Yes there was a lot of other circumstances this time.

Weather
injuries
list management.

Nothing but misery since.

How long will we be suffering for this time?

Patterns don't deceive.

Richmond is a seriously good footy side. We underestimated them in the GF. Did you check out the game against the Swans last night? Their pressure on the ball carrier was immense and their skills terrific. They are on track for a repeat, especially as the GF will be played on their home ground again.

This. We ALL underestimated them.

Richmond deserves credit where credit is due. They were literally us in 97/98, where few people outside of our own club gave us much of a sniff, and we somehow steamrolled the favorites in Saints and North. Last year we were the favorites, but our injury toll became insurmountable and the Tigers were on a hot streak with form.

If Tigers and Dogs fans think the same way, then they wouldn't be rocking up on GF day 2016/2017 if we're going on historical patterns (they too haven't done much in the past 25 odd years).

The main pattern I have noticed is this site is continually full of people with no idea about footy ... and lots of other stuff....

Surely it's been long enough now that we've been able to accept the reality that we choked.

Let's not kid ourselves, the ....

93 Prelim
2005 QF against St Kilda
2006 preseason Grand Final against Geelong
2006 Prelim against West Coast
2013 QF against Sydney
2017 Grand Final

Were all chokes.

R23, 2016 vs West Coast

When was the last time we won a final where we weren't supposed to win?

Thinking back on things, excluding grand finals we've only won a handful of finals away from home.

93 against Hawthorn, 97 VS Sydney, the 97 and 98 Prelims, 2002 Vs Melb and 2015 vs Bulldogs

That’s not a pattern
