Was watching a GWS game last night on Foxtel from this year and marvelling at Cameron's ability. Googled him a bit and read conjecture that he would have gone #1 ahead of Patton if he hadn't already been pre-listed as a 17yo. Obviously due to injury and other factors Cameron is ahead of Patton at this point in displayed form but who would you take if you had the choice of either?
I wouldn't be able to go past Cameron, just seems to be able to do it all.

Well a few votes but no discussion. I'm particularly interested in hearing from those that have seen a bit of Patton in his junior career and think he'll be the player he was billed as before the draft.
I believe on exposed form Cameron will be one of the best if not the best forward in the comp in a couple of years.

Not sure who I'd pick as I've only seen Patton pre-draft and Cameron post-draft. Whilst he didn't produce any mindblowing highlights Patton was about as well rounded a key forward prospect as you'll see come through the junior system...he had a strong body and used it well in marking contests, clean hands, had good pace on the lead, made smart decisions with the ball, was a powerful kick...you would have had to work hard to find a deficiency in his game.

Too hard to call. Knee injury to Patton probably derailed his start to his career a bit as opposed to Cameron who seems to have had everything go right. Looks a very very good player does Cameron though, a real prospect.

Could be a scary duo in a few years time if they develop as expected

Cameron atm, but Patton will creep up on him.

Yes! And imagine if their mids develop as expected too. It's going to be a hard machine to stop when it's rolling. For some reason I find them a far more daunting prospect than GC.

Cameron looks like the real deal already. An absolute natural.

Cameron is out easily outperforming Patton, without the use of a man's body. The development of keys can be unpredictable, but on what we've seen it's no contest.

That's not really fair, Patton did have serious knee surgery at the start of the year

But I do think that Cameron is going to be something special

I'm really looking forward to a heap of these gun kids at GWS & GCS heading back home in their droves and Demetriou flatly denying that homesickness exists.

They are different type of players, Patton is more of a huge leading up forward e.g Jonathan Brown. And Cameron is like a tall Stevie J type IMO. Cameron is better by a mile ATM, but Patton has had a few injuries. Patton will actually start to show his stuff in a few years like all big men

Why would he be at the dogs next season?
Because he hasn't re-signed yet, and if he really is feeling homesick (big if), we'd be one of the favourites to get him because we're desperate for a Full-Forward and have loads of cap space.

But he'd want to go somewhere on the cusp of success, with the increase to the cap just around the corner there would be other more appetising options.

Even with that in mind, the likes of Collingwood, Essendon, Carlton etc wouldn't be able to offer anywhere near as much money compared to us, North and St.Kilda (after their old players retire).
