I wish him well but it sounds as if the expansion of his business interests to Queensland might have made his decision to retire a bit easier.

Sporty, I am being serious when I say that I know how much you look up to him and I know he will be missed by you and others.
He is retiring on a high because I thought last season was a particularly good one from Dimma's perspective.

Thanks for the memories dimma (or as i call him, dim sim ), you have been a true bulldog champ who always put the team before yourself, he will be missed not only on the field, but around the club as well, he will still be around as well, and i know he will still help the club out, he will still be a player sponser.
Good luck in the next bit of your life dim sim, you deserve all the good things that will come your way in life.

It is sad but i believe he got the most out of his career and it is time for him to retire. I cannot remember ever seeing him do a full training session. He said that he wants to do whats best for the team so i doubt he is really angry about it. Rohde could have told him earlier...before the season ended so we could have had a chance to give him a send off. If they only had a meeting about this last week that is ridiculous. There is no reason why it had to drag out so long...and Dimma could have gotten on with life after footy a bit sooner.

I also remember the Chicago farewell dinner at Dimma's restaurant and how he kicked a goal for PC in his milestone game. He does a lot of charity work also....so yeah all round nice guy. He did his best for the club and that is all we can ask.

I didn't have Dimma in my best 25 for next season, so I'm not upset by the decision, but I am surprised.

By picking up 4 talls in the trade period, we now don't have a million midfielders like we did, and Dimma would have given us more depth.

Wiggins must have pictures of Rohde to be still on the list.

Croft, Harrison, Bassett and Garlick can all consider themselves lucky.

But but but, he's had a great career and no one takes that away from him, hes set himself up for the future with his restraunt on lygon st which shows his forsight and can enjoy life from the other side of the fence. Plenty of others will come and go without getting anywhere near what he has done.

We shouldn't have let him go, he had a good year and is the type of midfielder we need, tough and big bodied. Hopefully Cooney or someone can play a role as a tough midfielder and it isn't all left to Westy and Mitch

As for Dimma, sad he couldn't get 150 games for life membership of the club. Was very good in 97,98.

On Living with Footballers a few months ago, Dimma said he thought he would play for one more year after this one. So if he has been forced out, that is very mean, considering what a great clubman he has been with his charity work, as well as being our one remaining experienced 'enforcer'.

I hope they count his reserves games and give him life membership. Tough decisions were always going to be made, I flagged this about a month back. Not the first player to be forced into retirement. Knights, Leoncelli,Burke and hundreds of others have finished their careers when they wanted to continue.
Players react in different ways.

Eagleton showed he could effectively tag and run off cream-puff opposition midfielders he was assigned to.

I heard a 10 second clip from Dimma on the radio and he was definately forced out.

What an honourable thing to say, puts the club before his own interests, he should be remembered for all the good contributions he made to the club... As a few already said, a "Clubman", which is exactly what he was...
