It is absolutely time for Medders to come back into the side. In such a tough game you need opportunists who can make something out of nothing, and far more frequently than leon does. Medhurst is a better lead up target and is more likely to draw Fisher or Goddard away from our deep get out kick. I don't blame Dawes for the way he played today, he was heavily outnumbered and there was barely a time when Leon was at his feet.

I was really happy about Leon's goal, but he looked unfit and sadly out of touch. The confidence is gone. Medhurst is the kind of player who could come in and kick 5. Even if he doesn't odds are he will be front and center more often than Davis was yesterday.

I really, really think this could be crucial to next week's result, and I just hope that Mick can finally take off his blinkers and recognize that Leon is not in our best 22. He seemed to make the decisions for O'Bree, Lockyer, Fraser and Medhurst himself easily enough. Why is it so hard to drop Davis?

That's the only change I would make to the team.

No chance whatsoever. We saw how rusty he was against Adelaide in his first game back. This is not the game to take in a player who has barely played this season.

Goldsack and Presti the only possible ins, unless there is an injury/suspension. Goldsack should come in for Davis.

It was the Essendon game. He was uncharacteristically bad that night. I know he didn't play all that well, but could he be worse than Davis? I'm certain Medders could stick more tackles too. I like Goldsack more, but I still don't see a matchup for him. But I would prefer Goldy in over Davis than keeping him. Leon is gone after yesterday, I think.

Malthouse admitted he made a mistake by leaving Medhursts recall too late in the season...Then compounded it by dropping him the week after. Maybe if he was afforded the opportunity to get into some form in round 21 and 22 we'd have an option. As it stands it's gotta be Goldsack coming in for Davis.

What about Lockyer in for Davis. Can play back / mid / forward and has fresh legs, could be his last game at the Pies and would add run to the midfield?

I like Lockyer, he would bust his guts out there next week and easily play better than Davis.

davis has gotta go, no question about that.

Medhurst is an option as he'll slot right into position. also has the potential to cause some trouble but whether he does is a different story.

lockyer is another option as he's more versatile, he's like a jack of all trades, master of none. so i dunno if he'll actually have much of an impact.

goldsack is an option, but he'll be a defensive selection and i'm not sure that's what we need

Ditto presti, we may feel that asking brown to back it up 2 weeks a row is asking a bit much.. maybe we can swing brown into the forward line?

and dont discount the possibility of mccarthy being selected.

Medders:thumbsu: pls pls pls

Needs to be started in the middle so he can get into the game early, then moved forward.

Reasons why meds should be in...

St kilda had about 50 inside 50 rebounds. Meds is brilliant at goal assists and hitting up options inside 50

The essendon game shouldn't count in his form line. The 8 weeks in the reserves had meds playing brilliant in the midfield, then in the seniors he was put in the fwd line, no wonder he looked out of touch. Meds needs to play midfield bursts and rotate into the fwd line.

A few players appeared nervous and over stimulated during the game. Meds and his Buddhist meditation will allow him to be a calm contributor when the pressure is on

Agreed I'd love to see him back.

I think he'd be that hungry for the pill, he'd lay around 10 defensive tackles, and kick a couple of goals at worst.

Good point regarding taking one of the Saints defensive markers in Fisher etc out of the game, as Medhurst is very strong over head.
