And the reality is that most guys won't get rich out of playing AFL even now, only the top 5% make it "big" whilst a lot never even make it to a game.
I think last year the average AFL wage was $135,000 (which is great money but you may only earn that for the average of 1.8 years).
Irrespective of the wage, some guys will blow it no matter what they get paid.
