How, I'm Michael, i was reading a post about the PDJFA and mister goldspink and Ron Anderson and I played for East thomastown and umpired both PDJFA and nfl, Darren and Mark (goldspink) where there at the same time as me and Marty Elise to, Mark stopped to continue with Victoria Police, and my dad started off as a time keeper with east thomastown and then became one of the vice presidents (each club had one) and then took over as president when the pes's son was arrested for killing his business partner at rye back beach, dad wasn't keen to do the job but they all voted for him, and he only had to stop when Mr pf of the DVFL started poaching teams and then club and before you know it there is not enough teams to make up the numbers, the nfl went on for a bit but when Paul Anderson and Mr Scott passed away it just self imploded.
If everyone has some old pictures of East thomastown or PDJFA i would love to see them, even more i would like to get my hands on any east thomo jumper's or grand final flags, would like to get hold of East's club sheld with the weg cartoon magpie on it but i don't like my chances of that, people who did very little till the end was not to far off, then they were there all the time, making decisions and get first pick of what they liked, ie the sheld (my dad Mr John green made it by hand, got permission from Collingwood and WEG and look after it for over ten off seasons, but some under 14's kid got it, could not even get my jumper number i wore for just under 250 games with et, but I did get a seniors top, black and white but are stripes where vertical and the senior one is horizontal but it is better than nothing and the people who were there now what is what and who did what they did, like Ashley bouth, Anthony and Paul kouta, the karslakes, Craig frankey and so on
So reach out if you play with or against east thomastown, i have some pretty good umpire story's to, with cop's having to turn up and a umpire who forgot something before the start of a under 16's grandfinal and everyone there was watching if only mobiles and Facebook were there then?
