Not sure if you still need this information, but i'll still post it anyway.

I'm currently studying a bachelor of education p-6 and i'm minoring in health. My uni (university of ballarat) offers a physical education course to teach pe in high schools. You can also do a 3 year human movement course and then do a 1 year diploma of education. I'm pretty sure this would allow you to teach in a primary school, but i'm not 100% sure.

If you are looking at only teaching pe in primary schools other universities would probably have a PE degree that covers primary school and high school, but the majority of them focus solely on secondary school.

If you want to teach PE in a primary school there is the option of doing a straight primary education degree which would still allow you to teach PE.

However that aren't that many job opportunities if you're going to pigeon hole yourself as a primary school PE teacher as many schools in regional/rural areas are too small to have full-time PE teachers and most smaller catholic schools don't have PE teachers at all.

I've had health electives with human movement/physical education students and there's a reasonable amount of work involved in the health subjects. They have a lot of exams and tests and all that sort of shit.

Education degree is definitely easier and isn't that difficult to pass. Having said that i've got a mate who's doing an education degree to become a PE teacher and he struggles a fair bit with the educational psychology/teaching knowledge side of things.

Also if you're doing high school you'll have to do a few electives in other areas such as science or maths so you can teach those subjects as well.

Regarding the finance side of things it all depends on your circumstances really. Firstly whether you're living at home or have to live away from home. If you're living at home then it shouldn't be an issue financially. If you're over 18 you're probably eligable for youth allowance which helps. I'm eligable for $450 a fortnight which starts reducing after I earn about $250. However I earn a fair amount so I only usually get about $100 if anything. I work a fair amount and can still manage my uni. Remember uni goes for roughly 30 weeks of the year including exam periods, so theres an extra 22 weeks where you can work as much as possible. I work and live away from home while studying and although I do get assistance from my parents i.e. cheap rent, free afl membership, they pay water bill and uni fees - In my time at uni i've managed to purchase a laptop, printer, 81cm tv, shitloads of dvds, couple of grand of memorabilia, 1.5k queen size bed, wii, playstation, 4 week contiki booze fest around australia and currently have 10k in my bank. So you can still work and earn money while studying.

Hope this helps.
