Well, todays results went as well as they could for us.

We now finish 5th, and play WCE here.
Odds on we will cop Collingwood the next week, then will run into Brisbane (more than likely) here as well.

Our run could of been worse, and as a scum supporter said to me today - winner of Ess v Bris in Melbourne will win the flag. Id be pretty content facing Port in the GF.

Im not expecting us to make the GF, but geez, after today, our run is a fair bit easier than I honestly thought it was going to be.

If by some frikken miracle Adelaide roll Brisbane (crows have proven they can beat Bris in Bris) it will be even better.

As dan says, anything can happen in one-off games, and Im hoping we can pinch a flag we didnt deserve. We havnt really done much of that over our history.

It's been frustrating, that under Sheedy, we have finished top 7 times and only won 4 flags. I suppose you don't expect to win the flag every year that you finish top, but you do expect to maybe pinch one or two to make up for the years that you deserved it, but didn't win.

Unfortunately, we havn't been able to pinch a flag to "make up for" 1990, 1999, or 2001. The finals draw has certainly fallen our wa this year, and we have a great opportunity.

All we really need is to find some potency in attak. Our defence is among the best 2 or 3 in the AFL, but our attack has been poor. If we can get it working again, we might very well be able to do an "Adelaide."

To me, a win this year would be the ultimate payback for '99. In 2000, I didn't feel we made up for 1999, because all 2000 meant was that we should have won 2 instead of one. But a win this year from 5th would more than make up for it. Those over-achieving Bombers! ;)

Winning a flag in the same year that the filth win a spoon ... that is stuff fantasies are made of!! :eek:

You still have to win this week - and somehow I don't think its quite as certain as you think.

Don't let 'em get to you BomberGal. I don't have any doubts that the Bombers will easily account for the West Coast, with or without Hirdy. Just spewin' I have to work and wont be there to wave my jacket in a couldron of 50,000 other Bomber supporters!
 
The finals draw due to the ineptitude of the AFL in writing contracts has definitely given Essendon a more favourable than would have otherwise been draw for the finals. But all I can say is don't forget 1999. I remember seeing Essendon fans camping out in Russell St and near the Arts Centre before the Prelim saying that it was in the bag.

If you pay no attention to History you will never learn anything.

I dont think it is a lock.

I posting about our path - that is, if we keep winning, who we are likely to play to get us to a GF.

Besides, I said "Odds On", and if you look at the betting, we are, well, Odds On to roll WC!

Actually you said it was Odds On you would face Collingwood the next week - implying Port were odds on to beat them. Don't get me wrong, I'd put you guys as favourites too, but by no means overwhelming favourites.

Either way, you seem to be getting a little ahead of yourself. Remember - take it one week at a time :)

We can get as far ahead of ourselves as we like. We're just supporters, remember. As long as the players take it one week at a time we'll be fine (I'm sure they know this by now).
