TH is the intriguing guy in our team, to me.
What are your thoughts on him, Bobby?
I really think he has , or had, IT. He could run, tackle, tag, loved a goal.
What really went on with him this year?

I think we have a few on our list that if we keep them, and CS is hellbent on us improving, they can be very good.
T Hunt, Smedts, Murdoch for starters.
Guthrie, GHS also finished their seasons off poorly.
Further improvement from Duncan.
We have 3 out and out champions, THawk, Selwood, Harry.

Whispers in the HUN online that THunt, Brown, Schroeder, Sherringham are gone
Assuming this is correct-
- THunt - subject to recovery from chronic groin injury, think we will really, really rue his departure. As I said during the season, has pace (which we desperately need off the back line) can shut down key mids (with some massive scalps to prove it), can (and did) kick long counterpunch goals. Not sure I saw that much evidence that his foot disposal was ordinary, as reputed. Certainly far from the worst offender in that regard.
- Brown - fair cop. Good reader of the play, nice shot on goal, but no 3 or even 2 stand out facets that would make him a lock.
- Sherringham - 50,50 on this. Don't think he did a lot wrong in the games he played. Pace, not bad in and under and good long kick. Maybe not enough experience for his age.
- Schroeder - think you can only have one of these type (one paced mids) in a team and Bartel is one of the best. Should have given him a couple of games this year. Uncertain, but could be very annoying in a couple of years when Bartel is gone and (potentially) this guy is the in and under/30 possession/1-2 goals a game mid/HFF at another club.

I rate Hunt- He will be a loss if he goes. Would have him as our tagger releasing Guthrie to 'creative HB' adding some pace to our 'stodgy' back half
Just out of interest (looking for someone to replace so I could find a spot for THunt on the team), I ran a comparison with Murdoch (on Footywire), who seems to have been a little out of favour with BF supporters of late.
This is what it came up with: not a lot of difference between the two in terms of stats- Hunt has a higher DE%, which I thought was interesting- I'd have thought it would be the other way around, tbh.

Interesting figures, Teriyakicat
The DE% discrepancy is almost certainly down just to Murdoch's inaccurate kicking at goal, he's very poor at this for a HFF, and also to the amount of time Hunt spent at BP/HBF where DE% is generally higher.
But it's very hard to statistically compare a BP/HBF/Winger with a HFF/Winger.

Probably not a good idea to compare them as you said, Fred, but I was having fun with a new toy I hadn't played with before ;)

Hunt was listed as a midfielder- these boys played a bit "all over the place"- but I thought his higher BP DE stats would be balanced by his lower MF stats.

Yes, on a number of occasions they seemed to move him up to the Wing in the 2nd half.
Overall, however, the possessions stats for each of them are very unimpressive.

Certainly hope not for MB, TH.

If they want another tagging option Hunt could stay. Brown could be saved because he's the only young key position player we have that has played (and can play) at either end. Might be saved by the complete drought of young key defenders for next year.

Or of course, he might just walk.

That wasn't the argument. You made the statement that all veterans play at Sydney, Hawthorn and Fremantle. They don't. Best 22 wasn't part of the discussion.
Masive, massive clutching at straws there. So you came up with one example of a veteran at one club where that club decided to play youth in his place.

So tell me what you would call the axing of pods and chappy? - I would call that the same thing except we've created spots on our list for extra youth rather than have them taking up a spot on the list.

Played different roles though. Hunt was often assigned to a 'stopping' gig whereas Murdoch was mostly forward.
I still think MC like Murdoch for his 'pace' and the fact he is a Lefty. (Perhaps fond memories of Riccardi) Still not much good if you CAN'T GET THE PILL ... (or run into trouble or miss goals when you do)
I'm still unsure about Murdoch, but he is looking increasingly 'one dimensional' and will need to improve next year to cement his place.
I hope he proves me wrong

Hunt can do both.
