Decided to stay in Sydney to finish the job he started. Was offered a coaching position with Adelaide as a development coach. It was a tough decision to make but he wanted to settle down in one place for a while and finish the job he has started with Sydney.

I am shattered:(

I for one and very suprised by this latest setback I thought he was a near dead cert to come back.
Oh well good on him for sticking with it in Sydney....whos next?

I hear that Mike Nunan is a possibility - nooooooooooooooooooooooo

Oh crap, as I reckon Jonas was the key to our coaching jigsaw.

I'm not adverse to Nunan, but stay the hell away from Hart.

I think we should be targeting an experienced interstate assistant coach.

That is something I'm willing to bet won't happen.

How much little man. I put a carton of Pale on it
Happy to, but how do I know you will pay up? The chances of Sydney making the finals the next 5 years & the Crows missing the next 5 years are very slim IMO.

I did a bit of snooping around later and apparently Jonas was our #1 target and he was the first and only candidate that we have offered a contract to. Basically we head hunted him as the prime candidate but he refused:(

Some people reckon Nunan is good at developing talent so maybe he would be worth a shot:confused:

why not surprising ?...is there a story there ?
Why move half-way across the country for the same job?

Given the immediate prospects of the two sides, one would much rather be involved at the Swans than the Crows right now.

exactly right. Though if you consider the relative cost of living, there may have been some draw in that.

... & that we are in a position to offer a more attractive salary.

Good, Nunan would be excellent!

Bad luck about Jonas, but he's not the only good development person in footy :o

As has been said, next please.

Also need to account for family considerations. Not every family wants to pickup and move every couple of years.

So you rate Nunan highly as a development coach??????
He did for North what Jarman did this year, but at a better level and for a sustained period.
Can't remember but I think he coached north to a flag from several attempts, played skillful footy, but also hard at it.

I got the impression he can be a bit testy with people, but no evidence, just obsevation.

He will be an excellent person to have on board - depends on his role, but I would support 100%. ;)

This might be a stupid idea but why not get the state under 18 coach whats his name? Darren Trevena?
I know the results havent been outstanding there but obviously he has the experience with working with the elite kids so he could be an idea.
He may also help in recruiting back some SA kids who may feel a little homesick I.E Waters and Butler who he would of coached a few years ago.

Seeing as though we are looking for a development coach and we can go outside of football if we want to, what about................

....The Wiggles. Young people respond really well to them. :D :o
