I worked with Peter Wright’s father Norm, so followed Peter progress every monday morning.

Wright was our key target all the way through the 2014 season. The club / Macca met the family and were impressed and were planning to secure him by trading down picks. The family were also keen for a melbourne based club.

The Griffen bombshell hits and all plans go out the window. Must have been tempting to hang onto pick 6 from GWS and grab Peter Wright. I wonder what Dalrymple / Macartney thought. Wright went at number 8. Hindsight, a wonderful thing. He looks a beauty Wright, tall, fast on the lead and deadly straight kick.

Having said all that, I still confident our big trade will come off, just hope we don't lose any players in the next few years.

Well apparently McCartney was tracking Boyd regardless all year 2014 with the view to get him for this year. So we must have had plans to have both? I can't see us getting him now. Would cost too much.

The Peter Wright year was the first time i had a crack at a
phantom draft and possibly the last thanks to all this new
academy rubbish that sucks the fun out of draft time for
me. I slid Wright out to sixteen as i saw North as the best
fit for him with their ageing talls, anyway he seems to be
developing the contested marking side of his game well as
he always had great endurance and was a good kick.

The Griffen/Boyd deal left me feeling like the gimp or
Marcellis Wallace from pulp fiction as the longer it took
to get it done the sorer our arses got, pardon the French.
Almost lunch time maybe have a royale with cheese.

I can't be the only one watching Wright extremely nervously. Surprised the main board Boyd trolls haven't latched onto him yet.

The best way to go through life and especially life as an AFL supporter is to not give a stuff what the haters think.

I'm at that point and believe me, its marvellous.

Pick 4 and a player were within reach
We blinked, we were desperate. GWS smelled blood and we caved.
The betrayal of Griffen was a godsend.

Sure we sent a message but it was the wrong message.

Boyd needs to be played and get cracking to limit the damage.
mentioned this in another thread, I always felt that we should have at least got a second rounder back.

You are right we were desperate and gave too much
