The woman apparently felt threatened and reported the emails, sparking an investigation that would lead to Petraeus’s resignation as director of the CIA on Friday. According to a senior U.S. military official, that woman is 37-year-old Jill Kelley, the State Department’s liaison to the military’s Joint Special Operations Command who lives in Tampa, Florida. It’s unclear the nature of her relationship with Petraeus, but her closeness with the general was enough that Broadwell allegedly demanded Kelley “stay away from” him

Sounds like he has been swinging his wood in Tigers league? though who has been "petrayed' here?

The dead guy in Benghazi who was the target of a proffesional hit, not an out of control mob? Even though the CIA make up the rules when interviewed by the senate, Petraeus now avoids that. A hit they say the republicans tried throwing mud during the election, mud that didn't stick.

His wife? Well chances are she's probably looked elsewhere for sex with all the years abroad he's spent.

Has he been 'petrayed'? Maybe his appointment was only a consolidation before the up coming election, after all he's a republican and they wouldn't critisize that appointment? Is this just an excuse to leave the old ways behind?

Has his biographer come mistress been petrayed? maybe her book was to confrontational or the knowlage she has, she's now being painted as a crazy bitch. people don't listen to crazy bitches, much.

Jill kelley has a family, has a career.

Kelley is the State Department’s liaison to the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), one of the most mysterious components of the U.S. military. Based in Fort Bragg, N.C., the 30-year-old JSOC officially works to study and conduct “special operations requirements and techniques, ensure interoperability and equipment standardization, plan and conduct special operations exercises and training, and develop joint special operations tactics.” But it’s widely known that the JSOC conducts top-secret counterterrorism missions, and encompasses such elite units as the Navy SEALs. The JSOC was integral in helping the CIA and Pentagon in the investigation on the attack of the Benghazi compound, which means Kelley and Petraeus likely crossed paths in their work.

Petraeus’ crash is more significant than the latest nonsense sex scandal. As President Obama says, our decade of war is coming to an end. The reputations of the men who were intimately involved in these years of foreign misadventure, where we tortured and supported torture, armed death squads, conducted nightly assassinations, killed innocents, and enabled corruption on an unbelievable scale, lie in tatters. McChrystal, Caldwell, and now Petraeus — the era of the celebrity general is over. Everyone is paying for their sins. (And before we should shed too many tears for the plight of King David and his men, remember, they’ll be taken care of with speaking fees and corporate board memberships, rewarded as instant millionaires by the same defense establishment they served so well.) 1) Not next NATO chief; the next SACEUR... there's a distinct difference.
2) Sending flirtatious or cozy emails is not a crime under the UCMJ (unlike adultery), so I think you'll find the Marine General has nothing to worry about at this point.

Some of the daily beast info seems quite inaccurate now. Everything I have read suggests Jill Kelley was a "social liaison" to their local military base in Florida. The title was made up by herself and was voluntary (basically throwing parties for military bigwigs).

As for Petraeus, I think he made himself very unpopular with the Obama admin - reaching a crescendo with the ongoing aftermath of the Benghazi attack. His downfall was too soon after the election to be coincidental IMO, so I think it was quite calculated but the story got much more media attention than was planned.

Will be very interesting how Petraeus will testify on Benghazi at the upcoming committee, they may have created a man with nothing more to lose. Not that we will ever find out now, as I understand it will all be kept confidential now.

I hope you saw what I did there, it's called a play on words, Rambo. I'm only an occasional poster on these boards, with varying degrees of levity. I know you're an ex-serving member of the ADF, but I dunno where you get off lecturing me on the differences between soldier and state (a subject I have a more intimate knowledge of than you my realise). I can only recall engaging with you on a coupla occasions (cannot recall the content, but don't recall the numerous occasions you've pointed out the error of my ways).
