:thumbsu: Massive amounts of pressure acts til 3/4 time:thumbsu: and he actually kicked a goal when I thought he would stuff it. Hasnt redeemed himself fully but deserves to be picked ahead of Vince next week who is about as useless as an ashtray on a motobike...Bring in Riley.

Can't play Callinan and him in the same time.
Would probably still drop him (and Vince).

Really? You dont seem that stupid. Petrenko was immense great pressure all day and snagged 2, super game.

Vince I'm with you. Stiffy and Kerridge in for Vince and Callinan although Bernie's last 5 minutes with the game on the line could very well save him.

Elite Crow likes this thread :thumbsu:

Put up decent numbers and played his usual selfless role. When things were getting testy earlier in the game he was the first to go in to bat for his teammates. Sealed the deal at the end of the game to top it off. Love the attitude and energy that he brings.

He had a good last quarter. Up until half time - 5 touches, 1 tackle.

He definitely had a bigger impact when he was shifted up the ground.

The question for me is - is he a better option than some of the guys we've got running around in the SANFL?

Did he do more today than Kerridge, Lyons, Riley, Tambling or Johncock could do?

I'm coming across like I hate him - I don't. I like him, and when he's fit and firing, I rate him; but I don't think he's an automatic selection. To improve our team, we need to strengthen it - we need to improve the bottom 4-6 players in our side.

Probably not a true reflection of the value of his pressure.

In terms of his defensive pressure - Probably

As far as rating him go - the jury is still out for me. Ive bagged him bigtime since the prelim last year - but credit where its due today.:thumbsu: We needed what we got from him so he wont be dropped next week....but Vinces sphincter will be twitchy come selection time on Thursday.

I must be seriously missing something.

He did nothing for 3 quarters. Again, 5 touches, 1 tackle until half time.

His last quarter was good - but it wasn't amazing.

If you only care about statistics, yes. His pressure, second efforts, contesting 50-50's etc. were all good. Stuff like sticking up for his teammates in the scuffles and niggling opposition players were also marks in the plus column.

One of those touches in the 2nd quarter was outstanding - won the ball in a contested marking situation and kicked it long down the line. His was the 3rd disposal in a coast to coast goal.

A toast thread, really? He did some good things, but there were plenty others that had better games.

Absolutely - Sloane Danger Thommo Sauce- but if I toast 4 more beers right now I'll be hammeredo_O
Just sayin' he deserves a toast...he was bloody important for what he provided.

I've never been afraid of giving credit where I think it's due.. just as I'm unafraid of being critical where I think it's due.

Just having a laugh at your expense. All in good taste. :D

Yeah you did miss something he did more than that in the first half

I value all of that stuff (but don't think it makes you an automatic selection) - but I believe we have players on our list who could do all of that AND contribute more tangibles.

Kerridge had 20 touches and 9 tackles last week; 30 touches and 10 tackles last night.

To improve, we need to improve our bottom end players - again, I'm not convinced that we don't have better players than Petrenko in the SANFL.

Saying that, I also think that Petrenko has the ability to be in our side on a regular basis, but I wouldn't select him if he isn't in fit and in form - and he was better today when he was in the midfield - not as a forward.

Not hating on him, but do you honestly think we don't have better options in the SANFL?

Possibly but he won't be as quick as pets, and we aren't a quick side to start with.

Not for his specific role. Riley is probably the only one that could come in a do a similar job but I don't think that he is as effective. We definitely have players in the SANFL that are better options than some we regularly play in the 22, just not for that defensive forward role IMO.
