Have I missed some big thing in the news about petrol prices?

A couple of weeks ago I was paying 85+ cents per litre.

Today it was 69.7 cents per litre.

Temporary abheration or has something happened to bring the prices down?

Something's not right...

Here in Griffith, I've noticed a verrrrry slow slide down in price...It's only by half a cent per day...Today's price...96.5c per litre...

phew, i was wondering how come the lowest its been in Sydney is around the 83c/litre mark

heres hoping they follow suit

NSW will never get as cheap fuel as QLD.

Few reasons, 1st is the taxes are lower up there .... 2nd is I am sure that QLD get their fuel from a different place to the rest of Australia ...

Something like that ...

Correct me if I'm wrong (which on this board is inevitable) but Aus does not get its fuel from Iraq.
France does (explains their anti-war stance) and America (I think) Well they do now.

As for fuel mid 80's to 90's in Melb.

Hovering around 80-83 cents/litre here in Ballarat at the moment. In fact, we were able to fill the car at the weekend on just $30, and that was with the car only on 1/4 of a tank going in.

Hopefully, it'll be around 77-79 cents/litre this coming weekend. :D

Has nothing to do with lower taxes up here - has to do with a State gov't 'fuel rebate' which is somewhere between 4 and 7 cents per litre I think.

Even take that off your other prices tho and our prices still seem to be lower.

Very strange.

Get rid of our rebate/subsidy - and we are near on 20cents cheaper per litre than Griffith, gotta be something severely wrong there.

The cheapest petrol I've got over the last few months was 82c last week. Tomorrow is 80.9c at my closest petrol station.

Saw that this morning. Bodes pretty well for putting more petrol in the car for the weekend footy and Mother's Day trips. :)

Really, what's the big deal? My tank holds 60 litres, so a 3c drop means stuff all. Wow, I'll save a whole $1.80. That's almost 90c a week! Now I'll be able to afford to get Geelong out of debt by myself.
