if it does happen i wont be sad. atleast we get another pick out of it. but i dont think he will get delisted now i would have thought he would have gone along with all the others at 1 of the 2 times richmond players got delisted.

This is about the 10th time someone has said this over the past 2 months.

JR24 isnt someone that has spoken much crap on the board. Not sure why he would start now.

Could it be becasue he wasnt happy with a new contract?

Is there any tomato SOURCE with this thread?

I've heard that Petts and Cass were both delisted, and then the club realised it had an extra spot on the list and only needed to delist one of them so they offered Cass a spot on the rookie list and he declined, so Petts got to stay

Petts would be good depth, but if we need to make more room on the list I understand the move. But why not JON first?

Petts should be a gonner , he won't be able to play seniors till 2010 and he's not that good a forward to warrent taking a young blokes spot in the seconds for a year. We've got Cogs doing that already and he's earned the right to be a passenger for years. Pettifer hasn't

petts gone
danny meyer and the goo rookie listed
cousins in :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I work with a guy who has some fairly reliable inside info and he told me that Pettifer had to have a second operation on his knee because there were further complications. Add to that, that there has been no announcement of a new contract being signed by Pettifer and it gets interesting. There is another list lodgement due next week so it might just be the case.

I'm neither here nor there whether Petts stays on our list next year. Although he hasnt lived up to his expectations, he has been a valuable contributor, its just that he hasnt been consistent.

I cant see how we can show loyalty to Polak, but then not show it for Pettifer.

However, what l am concerned about it is (if the rumour is true) the number of players that have we have since delisted, when we were expecting to have a quiet off period. Tivendale, Hyde, Meyer, Casserley, Gourdis and possibly Pettifer... thats too many for a list that was on the up. Particularly considering we only kept one of 4 rookies.

We MUST BE eyeing someone up in the PSD, because we wouldnt be taking 5 selections at the ND.

FWIW, l hope that Meyer gets re-drafted as one of our selections, but something tells me another club will beat us to it. ;)

I would be aghast if we did that, we had him for 4 years , decide he's not worthy of retaining his spot, give our recruiters an opportunity to put 12 mths prep/planning to work and they redraft Meyer, c'mon that would be a major step backwards and a knock on our recruiters in my books

Polak is contracted and was in our best 22 prior to being injured. We are not showing loyalty to polak, we are just fullfilling our contractual obligations. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure he is the only tall player we have in the 24-30 range. Pettifer would have been delisted or possibly traded without hesitation had he not done his knee. He is competing for the same small-medium forward spot as Brown, Morton, Riewoldt, Deledio and many others.

Tivendale and Hyde were always gone, no loss to a list on the up. Meyer and Casserley are physically not up to it, keeping them based on their recent contributions would be akin to not using 2 spots on our list. We all know the Gourdis situation. Pettifer, if the second surgery rumour is true, may be in the same bracket as Meyer and Cass.

There are some half decent options in the PSD for us that would fill a need far better than Pettifer. I think the fact fabian deluca is training with us could be factor. If he trains the house down, look for us to replace Petts directly with him. I don't particularly rate him, but at least having deluca will remove the need to take a tall "at all costs" over the best available with out first pick in the national draft.

Be interesting move. Although a lot of people here don't like to admit it, he's been our second best forward of the past 4 years behind Richo.

To be honest I've never minded Pettifer. Has always been a Richmond man. Just probably never got the most out of himself. I'm sitting on the fence here, I don't mind if he's delisted or retained.

The fact is that he's coming of a knee injury and probably won't play much footy in 2009

Didn't the RFC come out not long after he did his knee and say that he would still be at Punt Road in 2009?
That statement was probably made after a positive medical prognosis. If it is true that the knee is so bad it requires a second reco so soon afterwards, then it would make no sense for us to keep him. Loyalty only extends so far.

Yeah I think they did. I would've delisted Polak. We can still aid his recovery and then re-draft him when he's well. I'd bet a million bucks no other side would nab him after he's had 18 months out of the game. That we way he's under no pressure to return and if he does (and I bloody hope he does) we get him back and have a youngster who has just had 12 months developing on the list!

I believe that is correct, but I have also heard that they offered him a contract some time ago that he refused (told it was the near the minimum payment and only for 1 year and as he is out for the year there would be no match payments).
If this is true it would be a bit of a kick in the guts for a guy that was probably on somewhere between 150 & 200k on hisw last contract.

That was just Petts talking himself up in a Hutchy column in the Sunday Herald Sun late in the season about the 1 year contract he was about to sign to take him into 2009. It still hadnt eventuated about 4 weeks on and we've received no news since that he re-signed, so it seems Petts was talking out of his backside when he said that.

If thats what you were thinking of . . .

If Petts gets delisted, Good luck for the rest of your life and thanks for contributing to the tigers

If he does not get delisted the OP deserves a red card.

Polak has a year left on his contract so if we did that, it would mean paying him out of this years contract. Might as well keep him on the list to see how he does recover rather than having to pay him out and then re-draft him.
