It's raining on and off up here and am seriously thinking of sudsing up Clyde in the next downpour, he needs a tub and is bouncing around the house like a two year old. A week ago he was mr sleepyhead, but today. Oi. Goes OK for a dog who will be 11 and a half on Sep 3.

Currently growling in his sleep, must be a cat irritating him in his dream :D

or he could be saying GTFO me.

Second option gets my vote Dan. The other dog seems to be having fun.:)

Oi poor old Clyde feeling his age yesterday, didn't even lurk around kitchen when I was making my lunch, which is a worry though ate his dinner. Slept most of the day. A bit more active today but still not so active. I think his arthritis in back right leg playing up, I've checked his paws and right back paw is a tad swollen which is a sign. We had a small walk this morning but am taking it easy today. Trying to get him outside to get some sun on his body though he's snoring AGAIN.

Love this thread.

I was always a cat person, until I met my wife. We now have a couple of dogs in a shared-care arrangement with her parents - generally they're out our house on weekends but spend the week at the in-laws so they are not left alone during the day. We go down there to take them for walks a couple of times a week, as well.

This is Penny, a labrador/something. My father-in-law picked her up from the pound, one day before she was to be put down. Has been with the family for four years or so now, and is the most loving dog you could imagine.

And this is Charli. Labrador Retriever. Named after Charli from Hi-5 because as a puppy she was a ditzy blonde. She's smarter than we think, though. Will chase a tennis ball, stick, etc but won't bring it back. Give her a job to do, though, and she will do it. Loves carrying in the mail, carrying plastic bottles to the rubbish bin, picking the paper off the lawn, etc. It's like she knows she has a job to do, while the other stuff is a bit pointless.

Yesterday had the fright of my life. Clyde went into a seizure. One minute snoozing by my feet then started thrashing around and foaming at the mouth. Defintely not a doggie dream. Murphy's law, vet on day off and out of mobile range cos she went fishing. Oh dear. Anyway, it lasted about a minute or two tops, and he came good then had a huge sleep then bounced back wanting to play around 11.30 a.m. He's off to the Vet, except can't get him in til Thurs morning though if it happens again they will squeeze him in. The logistics of getting him on the ferry, with muzzle then into a vet in town could take just as long and would be a nightmare, for him. He's his usual self today so everything is crossed that can be crossed.

Do any of you woofer lovers have a similar experience. Mind you Clyde is 11 and a half and for a Dalmation that is a darn good innings.

Wow....I've never heard of dog having a seizure before. Is that the first time that's happened to Clyde?

I had heard of it Dan through a friend who's dog got epilepsy when she (the dog) was two.

Poor ole Clyde had another seizure at lunch time y'day so I managed to get him to the Vet pronto for blood testing. Trouble is when he comes to he's like his normal self. Then he had another one early last night but the vet gave me some valium to give him after he came out of it. phew.

Anyway, most of his tests came back good, just waiting on pancreatic report, vet is thinking old dog encephalitis (inflamation of the brain) and will be prescribing some steroids and if that works fine or if not some other concotion she mentioned. FINGERS CROSSED.

It is a great thread thread isn't it?!! Hey nothing wrong with being a cat person big e, we have a cat and two dogs. Love your dogs, especially being of the best breed in the world (IMHO);):thumbsu:

Our Archie is very smart too, but has a major weekness and can be outsmarted by food of any type, it's like Labrador Kryptonite:D

Hey Gab, sorry to hear about dear ol' Clyde, thoughts are with you especially so soon after your sad loss of Bonnie. Sounds kinda wierd, but maybe the vet can shed some light on the mystery. Hope it all goes well for Clyde and you. Our FINGERS CROSSED TOO.

Clyde update. Not brilliant really. Vet still thinking inflamation of the brain and one of the senior vet person who tested his blood in Brisbane was talking brain tumour going by his pancreatic results. Mega swear words from me to myself. Anyway, Clyde is now on meds of two types, one which is given to dogs who have epilepsy and the other is steroids. Names too long for me to spell. Yesterday he was seizure free, in fact was his normal cheery self playing and when the vet dropped off his pills had to do the stretch the paws up on the front fence for pats. Go figure.

Sooooooooo, I'm taking it one day at a time, and hoping that not too many seizures a week or really NONE, though if they occur too often, at least one a day or so, will have to make a hard decision. Sadly he could have a seizure and not come out of it. FINGERS CROSSED.

I know he's getting on but is a lot more active than other dogs his age or even younger. Phew, I keep eyeing off the Valiums the Vet gave me, could go one. LOL.
