Mathew20 is going on last season's form. I have discovered that it is impossible to predict results and ladder positions. Certain clubs may soar, others flounder but trying to decide the make-up of the ladder must is based on the past and not the future. That said, I am, for the fun of it, going to attempt the ladder and award winners of 2006. After all, it is the off season.

LADDER:

West Coast
Adelaide
St.Kilda
Fremantle
Sydney
Melbourne
Brisbane
Western Bulldogs
Geelong
Port Adelaide
Kangaroos
Carlton
Essendon
Richmond
Hawthorn
Collingwood

Left Geelong out of the eight as they are vunerable, Collingwood to get the spoon because they lack talent and I despise them, Kangaroos band-aid job to crumble and because I have the passion Fremantle to make the four.

Grandfinal: ( It is a fantasy...)
Fremantle to defeat Melbourne.
Norm Smith:Paul Hasleby
Coleman: Matty Pavlich
Brownlow: Pavlich and Byron Schammer
Mark of the year: Luke McPharlin
Goal of the year: Brett Peake
Rising Star: Marcus Drum or Ryley Dunn.

Ahh, you can but hope, or wish.

i would love your predictions to be right on the money but i have no confidence in connolly and i dont believe the players would give 100% under his control.i really believe he wont see the season out.I have included richmond and the dogs in the eight at the expense of port and melb.Port have had there day melb go from one extreme to anouther every year and it would be hard to go past young talented sides adelaide saints geelong bulldogs eaglets and sydney not to be in the eight.who give there all for the coach The same can be said of rich and kangs there players would run though a brick wall for there coach.Dont be suprised if the hawks sneak in the eight they have unbelievable young talent and are going to be pretty scarey in a few years time.As for the rest it is rebuilding time except for freo who only need someone in the box to show them the right path.Freo for ever regardless

I dont agree with what Mathew20 says but as long as he finishes his posts with....

His heart is in the right the place.

Mind you there are a many who agree with his predictions and sentiments.

I'm of the opinion we will have the biggest year ever this year.

I predict Saints to win the GF.

We will arrive 'big time'.

I'm planning my annual leave arrangements to coincide with the last week in sept 2007 at the G.:thumbsu:

Well what the frig are they playing the game for??? They either give 100% for whomever the coach is, or they should bloody all have the decency to give the game away.

That is bollocks saying the players won't give 100%... if they don't give 100%then they shouldn't be playing and getting paid bloody 10x the amount a lot of the rest of the population are getting paid to do their mundane jobs day in and day out 48 weeks of the year.

This is not paying out on you Mat (although it may seem it is... :o ), but I am sick of people saying that the players won't play for the coach. Well Fxxx that. The truest thing the esteemed Mission Man has ever said was that they play for us. They play for us, the club, the jumper, themselves, their team-mates and the coach. If they can't sort that out in their heads, then they should bloody well p!$$ off.

You could say bollocks for saying players wont give 100% but it is a true fact of afl life.Lets take a player who has been playing like crap the media give him a roasting he comes out and plays a blinder maybe he decided to put in 100% effort. This attitude can also effect a whole team which could be getting caned every week then out of the blue they play a top side give 100% and cause a major upset before they drop back into there old habits and get beaten the week after by a lower side.A good coach will keep the hunger there every week .Freo have got the players to beat any team anywhere anytime if they play to there full capacity. You are right footballers get paid big bucks and should give it there all week in and week out or get out of the game but big money is a good reason to stick around

Mark Harvey has been, even though no one will admit it, brought over to Fremantle to replace Connolly if things go pear shaped. Connolly had not done enough to warrant a contract extention and now the board has taken the required steps to cover up their blunder. For Fremantle's sake and Connolly's I hope that the team gets their act together in 2006. Being a supporter of any sport passion, hope, excitement and frustration are all part of the ride. 2005 provided all of the above, although slightly more frustration. They have proved they can match it with the best. Defeating Melbourne at the MCG, Geelong at Skilled Stadium and St.Kilda proved this, but pathetic losses to Hawthorn and the Roos also showed why Freo are the centre of much ridicule from the footballing public. I am a Docker tragic. Win, lose or draw, my veins run with purple blood.

Bring on season 2006, bring on the birth of the real Dockers.

fair enough - I was a touch inebriated on one or two too many red wines when I wrote my initial response. I was also a touch over-protective of "my boys" and feeling a little peed off that anyone might actually be just turning up for the pay cheque, rather than to give their all for the club, the jumper and the supporters who love it as must as we all do.

I think there has been too much of the "career" focus an not enough on the playing your guts out for the jumper. yes one mite be aprofessional footballer, but the goal is always to play in a GF and be on the winning side.

Not to rack up 200 gmaes and never played finals!!
