OK Cats fans, here are our selections in the 2001 Bigfooty Phantom Draft. Please respond with your thoughts, I will be very interested to see what you think.

Pick 8: - James Bartel - Geelong Falcons
4/12/84 Ht 184 Wt 81

Shows great courage, is good one-one and uses the ball well. Captained Victoria Country in 2001 and a dual All Australian at under 18 level.

Pick 17: - David Rodan - Calder Cannons
8/10/83 Ht 170 Wt 170

Dual Morrish Medal winner in TAC Cup and a terrific crumber who is skilled, balanced and great evasive ability. Born in Fiji and has a rugby background.

Pick 23: - Cameron Croad - Oakleigh Chargers
17/1/84 Ht 187 Wt 78

Athletic Player with a good leap and is dangerous around goals. Brother of Trent (Fremantle)

Pick 24: - Matt McCarthy - Old Xaverians
14/12/81 Ht 195 Wt 95

Strong marking forward who has developed rapidly this year. Takes outstanding contested marks.

A couple of interesting ones with Croad and McCarthy (as Sainter pointed out ) but Bartel and Rodan are classy players

I posted last night that we needed some talls after you went for Bartel and Rodan - and you came through with the goods in Croad, although, I would question your choice in McCarthy simply b/c of his age.

It will be interesting to see how it pans out in reality - I really hope we go for David Hale instead of Bartel - who might be picked up at #7 by the Kangaroos anyway

Extremely Long and accurate kick who can go forward and kick goals. Strong one on one and Vic country rep inb 201

Pick 80

Joel Reynolds - Ht 186 wt 72

Grand Son of Essendon legend Richard Reynolds. Skilful left footer and good decision maker.

I wouldn't want Rodan either, the last thing we need is another undersized midfielder.

Obviously, just from what i saw of him (which i admit wasn't much) i didn't think he was worthy of pick 8, not to say that he won't be a good player
