He's done his knee again. :(

Poor bloke. He must be devestated.

It's just so disapointing because he was looking so good in the Ansett Cup, and I was looking forward to him fulfilling his great potential.

Can't even put in to words how sorry I am for the poor guy.

Terrible news - I never liked the guy, but damn thats bad and real unlucky.

My thoughts are with him ... hope he can come back from this.

:(
What can you say
This is THE worst news possible

Well, The only positive that CAn be taken out of this is one rookie can be put on the list, and another announced as the fill in thingy, but the negative is FAR worse than the positive:(

:( :( I hope things start to look up for him soon. No body deserves this to happen to them once, let alone twice. :(

Wirra HAS!!!!!!! to play up the ground.
We do have the players to cover for this
Carroll and Taylor can go BP, also maybe Green, i think if we give him enough game time, and get bluey to REALLY work on him, he could be a good BP
Its not the end of the world, but still a major blow o the team, and Read himself

do you guys think that all us west coast supporters from this board should get together and send him a message or something to show our support, it might give him a lift.

what do you think?

This news is really terrible for Read and the club.

One thing that I think is really heartening are the supportive posts from non-west coast supporters. Well done !!

On the News I saw tonight they said he is out for the year. In fact it is his other knee. Absolutely heartbreak. I think Richard Taylor will fill the back pocket role. As for elevating Rookies do any of them warrent it? I suppose Tuckey could become a permanent fixture. But then again I see his role being eventually taken by McDougall.

GO EAGLES!

If it's only an arthroscopy (as afl.com.au alleges) and not a full reconstruction, he may be back relatively soon

CH10 reckons he's out for the rest of the season. I bloody hope not! He's a fantastic player with a big heart, it would be a shame to lose such a character of the game in such an unfortunate way.

Good luck to him.

According to the rag, he looks like he is out for the year....I feel sorry for him and he was looking primed for a good year....

The surgeons told hold out any hope, but mayhaps (perhaps for Jod :p ) they may fear the worst and it wont be as bad as it is.....

Yeah, especially since MOST of them don't like the guy, it is very nice that they can accept that it is terrible for ANYONE.

Well, i am believing the worst, but HOPING for the bst, that it isn't as bad as expected
PLEASE give the guy a break!

Phil Read is the type of footballer us opposition supporters hate but i must feel for the guy.

We experienced something similar with Marc Woolnough, the kid had his second knee reco at the age of 20 yet so far (fingers crossed) he has made a sucessful return, so there is definitely hope for Read.

I hope the Eagles put him in touch with Woolly because i imagine facing another 12 months on the sidelines would be shattering, Woolly has been through it all.

Anyway good luck to him

Ready is a terrific person and a great player. My thirteen year old daughter really looks up to this guy and will be devastated when I tell her after school today. Fingers crossed it's not as serious as is being reported. As for sending him a message from everyone. You can go to a site that has cards of support on it and send him one via the club. Better still buy him one and send it to him. We did last year and he really appreciates the support. The bad thing is will be his mental state as when he injuried his knee last season he locked himself away for two months because he was so devastated. Go to it guys send him cards and messages of support Phil really needs it right now.:( :( :( Kodie

I was pretty upset when I heard the news about Read last night. Its a blow for the club who from early reports were considering him to be the "recruit" of the year. Its also a blow for Read personally who had set himself the target of playing all 22 games this year. I dont know whether its better or worse that he has injured his other knee, either way is bad I guess. I can kind of sympathise with the situation having torn my ACL before xmas personally, but it's going to be much worse for a guy whos career and livelyhood is football, particularly after already missing the previous season. here's to a speedy recovery.
