For most part I can't stand mobile phones, but for better or for worse, they're everywhere these days.

I thought it would be interesting to see what BF's thoughts on phone etiquette are, or if there are any rules at all.

A few things that annoy me:

People who talk on the phone whilst being served at a checkout.

People who insist on using the loudspeaker on their phone and then "shoosh" you if you are having a conversation with an actual person in their vacinity.

Now over to you GD. What pisses you off about mobile phones?

Ive got a mate who for some reason starts talking 10 times louder when on the phone. I was traveling through Japan with him and he got a call and started doing it when we were on the train. Its apparently considered rude to talk on the phone on public transport there so we got heaps of dirty looks from people

Public transport is a straight out no go zone for phone calls imo, unless its to work or uni saying you'll be a bit late. Hate people who talk on the phone on PT.

I personally don't like taking phone calls in public. If I need to its very simple straight to the point questions and responses. I find it weird people talking about the ongoings of their lives on the phone in public

It can be unavoidable, but be atleast be respectful about it. We sometimes have people answer their phones in our shop and stand there talking for ages with their 3 times as loud phone voice while employees and customers are trying to have conversations.

Seriously? I've never had that happen but I'd be ****ing pissed!

I love the loud talkers through the city, and the obnoxious loud laugh that goes with it. The need to look important and also enjoying life. Good for you, tosser

When using public transport, I always take out the left earbud (When listening to music) to greet the driver or to maintain attentiveness to surrounding passengers.

I for one hate people who use their phone when out at a restaurant. I understand with young kids it can be hard to keep entertained, but they get to an age when it isn't needed, but if you are having a 'kid free night' or don't have kids, keep off your phone and enjoy the time spent with your mates or loved ones. Nothing peeves me off when I see people just sitting on their phones rather then talking like they did in the good old days. My wife and I are in our late 20's and make these phone free times (only used to check up and make sure our son is in bed when he is babysat).

Nothing like being tired as or hungover on a cramped train at 9am hoping to just listen to some music for the trip and instead copping some campaigner who talks on the phone like he's in charge of Goldman Sachs.

I also just blatantly show my disdain for customers at work who feel they're beyond putting their stupid conversations on hold when they want to buy groceries or booze off me.

Never in my years of working behind a register did I care if customers were on the phone. If I had to ask them something (need a bag?, paying by card?, etc) they'd still answer.

I did have a bus trip once where an angry woman was yelling into the phone at the person she was angry at. That did piss me off. I don't want to hear an angry conversation for 15 minutes.

But if someone talking normally on a phone pisses you off then ****ing get a grip grandpa.

You just serve them a zinger burger regardless ?

I get some who don't and scowl if I dare to interrupt their gossiping on the phone. Seriously it isn't that hard to get off the phone for a brief second.

I done a job for a customer the other day and when he came back out of the house to pay me he was on the phone to his mate. Just threw me the cash. Thought that was a bit inconsiderate.

I know a couple of loud talkers. Almost dont need the phone to get the message across.

No one seems capable of speaking into a phone at normal volume in public, fat people seem to be the worst.
This. It always seems to be loud, mostly due to the background noise I'd suspect. Which is why I don't like it, if it was at normal levels then I wouldn't mind at all, but it never is. The woman fixing up her seeping scar on the train right in front of me with her dad was probably worse than this though, eh.
