My issue is he just doesnt look like a KPD. If he is he aint playing for 2 years. Easily outbodied by midfielders never mind AFL forwards. I think he is that 3rd tall Sicily type
I imagine he would start as a flanker then move onto the bigger blokes when his body matures. Though I think you are right that he is more likely a Sicily/Stewart intercept and rebound player. Nobody goes straight form the draft to playing on Tom Hawkins.

He is a absolute mile off though moving onto bigger bodies. He cant even outmuscle WAFL wingers. To go from that to Tom Hawkins in 2 years lets say isnt going to happen.

He is a Sicilty/Stewart type

If North grab him, pick 16 still needs to be a tall KP defender

As does their passing of Victorians who make it clear they don't want to leave Victoria ;)
Which ones?

If you're referring to last draft, it's been said ad nauseum on here by numerous people that Cadman was top of the board for WCE. When when it became clear that was unlikely to happen they were happy to drop back, as they were sure Ginbey would be available. It's a bonus Hewett lasted that long to WCE's next pick.

WCE took the flight risk in Judd back in '01(by O'Brien, no less) over the local KPP in Polak, despite all the noise that WCE should take Polak.

I really don't think O'Brien cares all that much about a media-driven narrative by SEN employees that Reid's a risk. If he deems him the best player by some margin, he'll simply pick him, even if he has doubts he'll want to stay long term.

That's simply how he operates.

it's worked just fine for the past 20+ years, after all.

The only reason Cadman would have been on top of the board for WCE is due to the fact Sheezel, Wardlaw and Tsatas were so vocal about not wanting to leave Victoria. There is no way that he was ahead of all of these guys based on talent, which wouldn't have been the case with even GWS.

The Judd selection was 22 years ago, I think we can stop talking about it now.

I feel like your FOMO syndrome is reaching Sam Edmund proportions here
Disagrees - Bring up Vic media bias

16 will sadly disappear with the Sanders bid.

We are likely going to be crap again next year, so we will probably just get a few fringe and mature options to make do for next year and then trade/draft in a few better KPPs.

Lol.

Tsatas is a soft outside receiver. Suits Essendon to a T.

Wardlaw's hammies vs our medical department would've been a disaster.

Tell me how WCE would've gotten ahead of North to pick Sheezel?

I understand you probably pat yourself on the back in your imaginary scenarios but that's all they really are, a product of an active imagination.

A better question would be how many Victorians do you have on your list that were vocal about not wanting to move interstate pre-draft
Luke Shuey was the biggest one. Even bigger then Judd at the time. He stayed it out

Andrew Gaff nearly left 3 times but didnt. Infact he turned you down to stay with us even though you offered him 1 million dollars more

Whilst I enjoy watching you pretend to know the inner workings of the WCE recruiting team, it's rubbish

Same could be said for you pretending to be clairvoyant and knowing what Reid's thinking.

At least my assumptions are based off of history and not my overly active imagination.

Our last 2 captains in Shuey and Hurn were from interstate. West Coast is widely regarded as having one of, if not the best programs in place for getting interstate draftees to settle. We recently drafted Chesser with our first rounder over home grown talent like Johnson, JVR and Sheldrick. Tie yourself in knots all you like, but West Coast aren't afraid of drafting players from outside WA.

Some posters getting very desperate with their agendas.
Not sure if that’s aimed at WCE posters but as I’ve said before it’s not desperate to use our allocated pick 1 on the best player in the country who also happens to fill our biggest list need. It’s sensible. If it’s aimed at the minority of North or Dees (and one WCE) supporters who are suggesting ridiculous trades then yes, I agree with you. All 3 clubs really need to just keep their draft hand as is due to list needs and mercifully most supporters realise this. We need the best contested ball utility we’ve seen at U18 level so we can actually win some footy, North need a KPD and tbh Watson (even though McKercher is a far better player) and Melbourne most pressingly need to totally rebuild the worst top 4 team forward line in living memory.

Definitely not aimed at WCE posters.

Worst case scenario he wants to leave after I think 4 years. I doubt he doesn't sign an extension if he starts playing well in the afl, if West Coast win 4 games, %: of 70 next year it is at least an improvement, they might even win 6-8, % of 80+.

Funny thing is the same conversations happened not 3 months ago re: Ryan Maric and people saying not to take him because he will want to go home. All the stories about how he teared up when he joined us etc

Its just going to happen to anyone who joins us it seems. It sells papers, regardless of its truthfulness
I remember seeing a mid season phantom draft and they had WC taking Buller because Maric was a 'risk' and Buller was local.

People still don't get WC will take the best available and back themselves almost every time. When they have a local and an interstater ranked more or less equally (like last year) obviously they'll go with local.

But Reid is clearly better than Curtin, so barring a ridiculous offer, Reid will be an Eagle.
