I'm still undecided. Stevens I would go for, he is still young. Rawlings is an interesting one, and we are no chance with Brown!

These next few weeks will be interesting!

I'm leaning towards keeping it.

Andrew Walker sounds like a good player.

Apparently, he is tall (190cm), quick, strong overhead, awesome evasive skills, good skills on either foot, good spring and a clever football brain.

I have only seen him play a few times, but I've heard from numerous experts that he is a ****ing good player.

And that's why when it comes time to put our offer on the table, it will be a harder decision than it looks.

Do we want a young gun, or do we want the tall player we so desperately need? It's too tough to call atm.

Wot he said!

Of the 3 players mentioned in the poll only Rawlings is close to being worth pick 5. Brown & Stevens are guns but we have enough recievers already, Rawlings however would slot straight into the spine at either end & will come cheaper than Bradshaw.

It looks like pick 5 will be traded away & if it is it must be for a ready-made key position player like Rawlings. Give him the 3 yr contract too, he's worth the punt.

We need to get it straight in our heads - do we want success now, or can we wait for it? We should either be building a side from the bottom up like StKilda are doing or building on what we already have with experience from outside ala Brisbane. We've been in the in between mode for way too long.

Personally Im sick of waiting.

Trading pick 5 in my opinion should depend on whether we think we can make anything of the next 2-3 years and I think we can.

If we could get Goodwin, Whitnall, Burton, Bode and Bradshaw in exchange for Green, White, Robertson, Heffernan, Walsh and pick 5 we would be a top 4 side next year. I have no doubt.

If we can't do something similar to this, keep pick 5 and start from scratch.

Getting a Rawlings and nothign else would be pointless. Rawlings alone will not lift us 15 places on the ladder and by the time our #3 draft pick develops and we maximise the potential of our list it'll be time for him to retire and the cycle will start again.

I dont think Brisbane would ask for as much for Bradshaw as you think. Brad Green + something small would see him in a Melbourne jumper next year.

Look their salary cap pressure indicates they could use a bargain pick up, eg Whelan,Walsh or the like.

However it's Bradshaw himself who's asking for $$$ up front which is apparently why he didn't go last season. We are in a better position now to accomodate him & I have no doubt he's the best available.

All things considered it's hard to split Bradshaw & Rawlings.

Your right no one player can turn us around but if pick #5 is what these clubs are asking in return then are we still interested?

Bloody server too busy message!

Unless we're committing ourselves to a flag in the next 2-3 years, no.

If we are which I think we should be we go all out and find an experienced inside midfielder, a solid backman and another forward along with Rawlings and get rid of some of the dead wood at the place.

No way would I trade pick 5 for Rawlings. Why would we want to trade away a 12-15 year player for a 3 year player with dodgy knees? We don't have too many talented youngsters and need to use these draft picks wisely. If we're going after Rawlings it needs to be pick 20 and a midrange player (i.e. anyone outside our best 8-10 players).

If we trade away the draft picks we've had to suffer for six months to "win" I won't be happy.

We proberly shouldnt even have pick #5, we lost some games we should have won in the second half of the year.
What's done is done and we do have the priority pick, and I think we should trade it for Rawlings and play him at CHB, Miller needs to start playing more footy in that position.
Quick fix? yes, but if it pays off that will give a lot of confidence to the club, Rawlings is also a leader which is also a positive thing

And there lies our challenge!

We have to replace our dead wood with some quality, it will not be easy.

If they're of little value to us then they'll be of little value to other clubs.

Not necessarily. Trading Green, White, Robertson, Heffernan and Walsh or Williams is not going to hurt us much. Clubs would offer plenty for this lot and if we use them in the right deals we could turn the side around in no time.

I can tell you know - stop talking about these guys (bar Walsh) being traded. It won't happen mate.

I think our main trade candidates are...

Walsh (Less ground time this season, I'd miss him but he could go)

Lamb (ND just will not play the guy! Despite looking the goods at Full Back last season)

Wheatley (Down on form & confidence, nowhere near his 2002 form. Everyone knows he can play...)

Green (Other clubs rate him, probably higher than most of us would)

Pretty thin I know, but I don't think we have much to play with. We do have 3 top 20 picks & Chris Johnson & that is the way forward I'd say.

No quick fixes! Two tough midfielders with Picks 3 & 5, maybe a crumbing forward at 20 + Johnson whose pretty tall. Players like Miller, Smith & Ferguson deserve their chances, so were not light on for height either. Bell, Rivers & Hunter still look the goods, no need for panic, we'll need a good run with injuries but every team needs that.

Apart from Green the others have very little trade value. We're almost better off keeping them or passing them off as sweeteners in other deals.

Wheatley I would hold on to.

If we want any quality at all out of the trade period White and Robertson have to be put on the table. Realistically these 2 could just about get us Solomon, Croad and Farmer on their own and would be far less costly than dealing with picks 3 or 5.
