I am sick of people saying Pickett is hard at the ball. It's crap. He lines up blokes that aren't looking. 2 questions.

1. How many hard ball gets did Pickett get last year and this year.

2. Is it surprising that he has cleaned up 50 players but none of Aboriginal heritage ???

Redneck Board

It's amazing how much you carry on when one of your players is on the receiving end, but when it's your team dishing it out you protect them.

Who cares if he's weak, tough, a thug etc.......

He's single handedly transformed the MFC into a much tougher unit.

We have Pickett to thank, for our first 7 rounds this year.

so you're thanking him for your insipid performances in round 1 and 2.

I'd make that rounds 4 to 7. He wasn't any good against Adelaide.

I wouldnt say he's weak, but you have a point, he loves hitting blokes who arent looking and are unable to defend them selves. I dont have a problem with hard bumps when delivered in a fair manner, however most of his are like hitting from behind, it takes no courage at all, some might say it actually takes cowardice. No, your right he is weak.

because we were better.

Disagree a little on that one.

While he had a quiet first half, he got into the game after half time (which correlated with our comeback)

Fair enough.
I'm willing to concede that one.

I hope our return meeting in rd 18 at the Dome is a different MFC

???
couldnt agree with you more.
i have seen him a couple of times fumble the ball when he had to put his head over it. also chooses to run past the ball and bump rather than go for the ball. tough players keep their eye on the ball.

You're right - we'll have to disagree on that one. I wouldn't have put him in the best 20 players on the ground that day.

One day he'll get whats coming to him.

Someone will line him up, smash the :D:D:D:D outa him and it will be very funny.

The people he has taken out now do not have short memories.

pfft. Thank god for Bay 13, Pickett is alright, if the ball is there to get, he'll get it, and if someone is in the firing line, he'll deck them. Pickett is not weak, he is a fair thug:D

i dont agree with that. it is a misconception made by people who assume that just because he can lay a good bump, he also goes in hard for the ball. for example when he hit krummel he went past the ball to hit him. the only tough guy that day was krummel who had his eye on the ball. same as when he hit i think it was wiggins for carlton, one guy with his eye on the ball(tough), one with his eye on the man(weak).

Just noticed, last year in 15 games, he had 7 contested disposals. Total. He is a thug.
I bet you'd love him in your side at the moment

No-one will clean him up. He cleans up the players who clean up others. Remember when he broke Milburns arm?
BTW, very hypocritical to bag a player who is supposedly a coward when you go for a team with Darren Milburn.

Who has Milburn lined up latley?

Whos jaw has he broken?

Im wondering what Crowley did. Nothing.

*cough* Silvagni *cough*.
And if you think the Crowley hit was bad you are an idiot. Against Adelaide in the final last year Biglands went to clean up Pickett front on and Byron put him on his ars*.

They are called cheap shots. He takes cheap shots every time. In ice hockey when a player lines up another who isn't looking it called taking cheap shots. Do that often in the NHL and you will end up with a stick in the back of the head. Very frowned upon in the NHL.

At the end of the day Pickett is a weak dog. He lines up players who aren't looking and wouldn't normally expect to be cleaned up especially well after the opponent has kicked the ball up the field.

Pickett's charge was exactly the reason why the rule was implemented in the first place. It boils down to whether is was reasonable in the circumstances and whether the receiving player should have reasonably expected to be cleaned up. If you are chasing a player such as Koschitzke then you should reasonably expect to be cleaned up and perhaps Kosi you should have looked in front of you to see if anyone was coming. Nothing wrong with that one. But Pickett's one is entirely different. The player (don't know who sorry) was not chasing but running alongside and had no chance of catching let alone intercepting the kick. The ball was kicked by the Melbourne player up field and then, quite late, Pickett takes what I have described above as a 'cheap shot'.

Not suprising he wasn't booked as because Giansaricusa wasn't booked (and nenver should have been) the AFL couldn't be seen to be picking on poor old Byron (he should have been).

Pickett is the weakest dog to play this game and hopefully someone cleans him up and knocks him into next week. He's not tough, he's a weak gutless coward who takes cheap shots. Anyone can do that.
