PIEMAN RESULTS RD 5 v HAWTHORN

WB 8.16 64 lost to Hawthorn 15.14 104

WB Goals:
Darcy (2), Naughton, Freijah, Hynes, Croft, Gallagher, Dolan

The less said about this game the better. The bubble has burst. The lid is back on. Artemis has splashed back down to earth.
No big scores tonight. Only one mini-Chump. Highest possible score was a Chump worth 183 but only one team this week cracked 100. So there was not a lot of change in the leaderboard.

Carryover Teams and Pieman Substitutes

There were 13 carryover teams and those required 8 subs as follows:
Buckingham got Dolan (29) for Jones
cecil got 2xDarcy (24) for 2xEnglish
lachy got 3xDarcy (36) for 3xEnglish
TiAn_ got Naughton (6) for English
X_box_X got Naughton (6) for English
Most Popular Picks
Emmett was the most popular pick until the carryover teams were applied. The debutant syndrome.

The KELVIN
The top five scores this week went to teams with multiples of individual players. theAthenian (122) did best for a comfortable 35 point win on a low scoring night. He had 3x Freijah and 2x Croft. Zeno The Great (87) was second and Brian Perrin (81) was third. Snarls Barkley got the only Mini-Chump (worth 6 pts), missing out only on West who kicked four behinds. Nobody got an outright Chump.

The PIEMAN
So the leaderboard still shows lateniter on top but Zeno the Great has closed the margin to only 26 points. theAthenian has moved up from 37th to eq 18th with his Kelvin win this week.

A special note on season scores: I found an error in last week's results. I missed that three carryover teams had Libba in them. So I failed to give them a valid sub. This had curious consequences when the proper sub was applied, as follows:

BulldogMuscle got Naughton (18 pts) for Liberatore. This has now been included in this week's leaderboard.
TiAn_ and TedDougChris both got Freijah as their sub for Liberatore. This gave them no points last week but their teams carried over this week and so Freijah was there, getting them 26 points each.

All fixed now. When I get a moment I will go back and change last week's Kelvin table and Pieman leaderboard just to keep the details correct but it had no impact at the top of the table last week.

Pieman Player of the Week

Gallagher was the best of a poor lot this week. Only Curly5 picked him.

Pieman Player of the Year

No change among the top three. Freijah moves up to fourth. Baker still a clear leader.

PIEMAN GOES INTO LOW MAINTENANCE MODE

Just a reminder that from next week the Pieman will be in low maintenance mode because I'll be away for two months and frequently off-grid.

I'll be posting a table of handicaps in a day or so for ALL players on the WB list. These handicaps will roll over from week to week unless I intervene remotely by posting changed handicaps.

Once I've changed a player's handicap that new handicap will apply for all subsequent games (or until I change it again).

No weekly roundups, Kelvin winners or leaderboards will be posted until I get back which may be after Round 15.

Sorry but it'll all be a bit basic while I'm away.

Have a great trip dog watch. Will miss the weekly reports, U do an amazing job.

Where U off to? Amazing you can go off the grid for so long, I can't get off the grid for a day 🤦🤣
WA.
There’s a lot of off grid territory over there!

PIEMAN HANDICAPS - ALL PLAYERS

As noted above I will be away and not able to post handicaps for the weekly selected WB side for a couple of months. Well, not easily anyway. And most likely not in a timely fashion.

So here are the handicaps for all the players on the list. Whoever gets selected in any given round can be found here.

These handicaps will apply until either
(a) I return - probably around Round 16 (a bye for us) or
(b) I am able to post updates to the handicaps in this thread.

Any such updates I make will remain in place until further notice.

I'll try to make as few changes as possible. However if I must do so, I will try to present them as clearly as possible so you know which handicaps you should be looking at in deciding your team each week.
I'll just be working from my phone so it won't have any fancy formatting.

Why should handicaps have to change? Well say for instance Naughton is out this week (a genuine possibility it seems). Or say Bevo announces Darcy will be the #1 ruck in Timmy's absence. That means there will have to be somebody else as the KPD focal point (Emmett? Croft? Lewis?) and as such their handicap value will have to be a lot smaller.

Another reason is a player might suddenly strike a rich vein of goalscoring form. We've seen it already this year with Arty Jones. So in that situation - if it looks like being a regular thing - they too would need to have their handicap values wound back a bit.

It's also possible I will need to wind the handicaps out a bit. For example, say Naughton finally and unexpectedly gets moved back to defence (lol). He wouldn't need to have the smallest handicap value any more.

Anyway below is the entire list. It's broken into two parts to make it abit easier to find the player you are after. The ones in yellow have already played this year. The ones in blue haven't.

Go for it.

Remember no weekly Kelvins, leaderboards or roundups will be posted until I get back.

If you have any questions hit me with them ASAP while I still have mobile coverage. You might come up with a scenario I hadn't considered.

Again, sorry for the inconvenience. :pensive:
