So boys this rule has been thrown out for the first time this week since the Reid incident Anzac day

You have had people like KB umpires boss Giesen and umpire Jordan Bannister come out and back up the rule

So anybody else feel that the Umpires flex there muscles tomorrow night and make this rule official?

We all know Cloke gets nothing from the umps so the question is how many will Cloke give away?

I think the more apt question is how many frees will Cloke get, as we all know the umpires seem to favour forwards more than defenders, well unless your name's Travis Cloke.

Week in and week out I see other teams tall forwards getting piss weak, soft frees for a push while Trav gets mauled by two defenders for a whole game and gets very little.

Hopefully the crackdown on pushing actually helps Cloke because if he can get in front, and we deliver the ball properly he should be nigh on unbeatable if they umpire like they did last weekend.

I'm extremely concerned they make an example out of Cloke

Would love someone inside Collingwood come out and slam the umps due to the treatment Cloke gets

Perennial umpires favourite Riewoldt going to have a field day
No doubt.

Trav will struggle as he'll be playing on a smaller opponent most likely and that always leads umpires to try and even up the contest by being tougher on the bigger bloke and letting the littler guy get away with a lot.

If our players don't do a Lindsay Thomas the millisecond a hand touches them in marking contests I'll be shattered.

The rule is only applicable to certain clubs. I'm 100% Sydney defenders or forwards will not be subject to this rule.

The rule for a start is bullshit. By definition, EVERY SINGLE MARKING CONTEST HAS PUSHING IN IT. Are we going to see more of what Bellchambers did several times last week and players just diving to the ground? There are gonna be a million free kicks paid if it is applied "correctly".

The umpiring of our game is in absolute shambles at the moment.

Soo my opinion doesn't count?

Don't you reckon this was a factor at selection? They're obviously going to stick either Jolly or Witts at the top of the goalsquare all game and the only way to defend them under the high ball will be to jump over the top which is a high risk approach as your only option and usually leaves a free man on the ground. And Clokey will be on his bike a fair bit, so less likely to infringe ...
It all looks great on paper!

I pity the poor umpires having to translate the wants of Bartlett and Geischen.
If players want to see how to "play for a free" just get out an old tape of "hungry"....self explanatory really.

All of our forwards and backmen will have to make sure they are playing in front because i think the slightest pushes from behind are now going to be given frees to justify their decision

If the Reid decision is the precedent, then you can confidently expect Cloke and N-Roo to kick 50+ goals between them tonight.

I wonder what odds Tom Milhouse would offer?

I hate crap umpiring decisions as much as anyone but the reality is that all teams cop them. The good teams get on with the job and don't let them influence the result.

Will we ever see a contested grab (hangers aside) again? By the letter of this law, any 2nd motion will be penalised. I wanna see a genuine 1 on 1 marking dual that doesn't involve 2 motions from the player who marks the ball.

Used to get a kick out of Shane Wakelin and Alastair Lynch going at it back in the day. They two would tug, fight, scratch and claw to get any advantage against each other.

I don't think I'll ever see battles of that magnitude again unfortunately. It was a spectacle within a spectacle.

I still have nightmares of Lynch throwing his arms up and jumping out of a contest deep in their forward 50 in the last quarter of the 02 GF and getting a free for it...:(

The umpiring this year is a farce, You're not even allowed to even place your palm on the players back region, it's beyond ridiculous.

The game we all love is getting worse every single game beacuse of the bad umpiring, it's becoming more unbearable to watch.

Every week I see Cloke try and mark while getting held onto and double teamed.

No free to Cloke unless it's clear his head is completely removed from torso, ****ing campaigner umpires.
