RIP pinker

Terrible news and Horses are very fragile creatures.

I have lost 1 as an owner and my uncle 2 that were very up and coming with a stack of talent and the latter was to a snakebite while it was spelling and coming off its best preparation ever after a few big wins and ready for a big step up in grade sadly. There is just so much that goes wrong with these animals and it is really hard to imagine the injuries and deaths that do occur and they are very high. You only ever hear about the high profile ones though or if they are executed on track due to a broken leg.

Condolences for Greg and all connections of Pinker Pinker.

A few weeks back they were calling her one of the worst Cox Plate winners ever, and now after her death (sad news it be no doubt) just like with humans you talk them up?

What do you expect people to say? Seriously? I don't think anyone has gone over the top with praise. Please point out if I've missed something.

You don't just win a cox plate by turning up, and you can only beat what is put in front of you.

she did me well early in her career, she cost me heaps in the Cox Plate.

as a racehorse, i guess they come and go. as an animal lover, it always devastates me to see these beautiful creatures go before their time :(

That's because everybody lost money on her :). I think Craig Williams got more credit than the horse because of his great ride that day. Which was a little bit unfair on Pinker Pinker.

Good post Nobby, it's always a hollow feeling when one goes before there time.:(

Not me. I backed her. Which makes this all the sadder.

What a terrible post.

It's not all about money. If a millionaire has his dog run over, does that mean we don't feel sorry for them either?

On Twitter yesterday within 5 mins TAB has announced the deductions for More Joyous :thumbsd:

There's a great photo of her on twitter from one of the owners if you can find it.

The Kirby's are hobby breeders in their 70"s who have raced a lot of slow ones.

She's their 1st Gp winner of any kind, who cares if they have or dont have money,
they chose to be involved in this great sport & deserve their success

Think they've had a bit more success than that? Pinker Pinker has been their star though, and I know they will all be devastated. Very sad. Improving with every run too.
