Thats just stupid bombergal, you just cant compare those two, sharks wont attack unless provoked and when they do attack they think you are seals, whereas those beasts attack even if they arent provoked. I got chased by one, and i didnt provoke it , so i think i would know.

All the reports that come through about this kind of thing are generally when the dog was annoyed/deprived/stirred up by a small child.

Sharks are just doing what's natural, so are the pit bulls. It's like telling a cat not to eat a freaking bird.

Train the dogs better, and make sure the owners are responsible. A good dog owner doesn't let bad things happen.

There are good oweners out there with pitbulls that are well behaved and placid as anything. But pitbulls are one of the most dangerous dogs going around by a fair margin and have done considerably bad damage when they are let to run amok and are not properly trained. I feel for the good owners because quite frankly, banning pitbulls isn't a bad idea - after all it's the idiots that have ruined it for everyone else.

I own a dog, and I love dogs, but Pit Bulls are bred to be killers, they are not an appropriate breed for today's society. Ban then, they are unpredictable and dangerous.

The way their jaws lock onto and hold a victim is an example of a genetic modification gone too far.

Pitbulls are good dogs if trained properly because they are loyal and good with kids. The amount of attacks associated with pitbulls is really not that high, it's just when they do attack, you'll know about it. The figure is also inflated by attacks from dogs such as Staffies, Bull Terriers, American Bulldogs, Presa Canarios and Argentine Dogos are often attributed to pitbulls.

Yeah, I definitely agree, I'm a dachshund person, but I hate how dogs at pounds, oh sorry, animal shelters, have been put down simply just because they 'look' like pit bulls, mainly because of the stigma linked to pit bulls which discourages people from adopting them.

No dogs out here have Australian accredited paper work to confirm their bloodlines.

The American Pitbull stud books contain bloody cross bred animals.

The Pitbull standard in America is so broad you have American Staffordshires being called pitbulls and vice versa.

Totally agree. I used to think that they were bad/nasty dogs until my flatmate bought one. One of the nicest, intelligent and friendliest dogs I have ever met and even got along well with my cat. I suspect many people that hate the breed have never even known one. Many breeds of dogs are capable of damage but the Pittball seems to be singled out by the media.

However when you look at the 45kg of muscle and the massive jaws maybe in the hands of a scumbag redneck idiot . .

Shame because when properly cared for they make wonderful pets.

The actual standard for them in America is so broad they range from quite big dogs to quite small.

To all the breeds that keep proper records of stud dogs and bitches to call the pitbull a breed alonng side them is a joke.

It looked abit like that dog, but it was black so i couldnt make out its facial features, anyway that was the last thing on my mind. But i knew it was a pit bull because it was my cousins neighbours dog, anyway the next day we jumped the garage and fed it chocolate. Freddo frogs they were lol.

It's the owner's fault for not training and handling the dog well.

They get all weird cos its got a BULL in the name. One of the best dogs i have owned, very friendly but also protective of family which is what you want. Just protects her family.
Like you hear kids jumping backyard fences and dogs bitting them and killing in some cases, but the dog is just proctecting its yard and the stupid kid shold know better. And they put the dog down...

If you want protection hire a security guard.

Dog's shouldn't be used as a protective force.

As smart as they are they don't know who's good or bad.

Kids jump fences, doesn't mean they should end up mauled or dead because of it.

My dog is taught to be social with all people and animals.

I got a Bull Arab as well, awsome dog, would never hurt anybody unless like you said somebody threatened one of us or tried to break in.

BTW German Shepard's account for more attacks then any dog in Australia.
Should we get rid of them as well?
