The AFL plan will try to raise the number of tickets to each competing club from about 12,500 per club to somewhere near 14,500.
All told, it believes as many as 50,000 people who watch the Grand Final in future years will be members of competing clubs when taking into account MCC and AFL Members.
It will mean clubs will have to sacrifice some of the 1000 tickets they receive from the AFL, and often sell off at lucrative prices.
...
The breakdown of Grand Final tickets goes roughly like this:
* The MCC reserve and AFL members have allocations of about 22,000 tickets. (each)
* The two competing clubs get 25,000 tickets in total.
* The clubs get 17,000 tickets, or 1000 each.
* 1300 go to AFL players.
* The Medallion Club members get 5000 tickets
* 7500 go to AFL sponsors, function invitees and corporates.
...
The AFL players are upset at the proposal to reduce their ticket allocation from two, to one each.

Why is the AFL trying to pinch a lousy 650 tickets from the players?
Surely the answer is as simple as using the 22000 tickets allocated to AFL members better.
AFL members nominate the club they support, why can't the AFL give preference to those that support the competing clubs?
- (Why? because they make more money from having premium AFL membership products of course!
