I actually think that Hurley might respond well to having the 'key' role.. also if we can pick up Chappy.. and with another year of development into Kommer and Merrett types..

We will have forward options.. and Daniher played very very very well most of the time this year.. which is excellent for a first year rookie KPP.. I think he will be ready to play 15+ games next year and will probably end up with 30-40 goals..

Early Call.. but I think Daniher will take more marks next season than Crameri...

I think Hurley might respond well to actually being fit. and by might I mean definitely will

Quite clearly Gartlett needed the kick in the pants that last year's AFL wide snubbing was.

In all likelihood without the dose of reality he probably would not have cleaned up his act.

I have no idea why we wouldn't look at him again, despite the pre-season trial in 2012, but we don't seem to be very forgiving these days.
Apparently didn't turn up to a club interview last week... Don't suppose anyone knows anything further about that?

could just be a club playing funny buggers with his public perception

Any chance we can poach gunston from the hawks next yr or later?? he is an essendon supporter!!would love to have him at essendon.

Think you are confusing Karnezis and Polec. Karnezis has shown more than Polec. In saying that would take Docherty before Karnezis. Pick 22 should have some currency.

No, no. Definitely Karnezis. People wouldn't know who Polec was unless they were from SA (and followed the U18 kids) or were from Brisbane such is his limited game time in the seniors.

Not interested in Karnezis at all. What does Docherety give us that Gleeson, Browne, Dalgleish not give us? (apart from paying for it). Not a great deal. Have high hopes for Dalgleish, keep the faith.

The arrogance from Adrian Dodoro continues to mystifies me. Myers is off limits, not going to trade, etc. Watch Melbourne come knocking with pick 2, then we'll see if he is still that "required player".

Add to that the speculation that we have "walked away from the trade table" after being offered pick 22 for Crameri is proof enough that he really does think this is a game of FIFA14 or something.

If we can get a better deal than 22, I'll eat my words, but who's going to come and join our party to help us?

Id be interested in the Fremantle duo (Viv Michie & Josh Mellington) who are rumoured to want to return home to Victoria. Michie is the one I would be interested in. Averaged a stellar 25 touches, 4 marks and 4 tackles a game was just reward for the injury ravaged 21 year old who went on to win the West Perth B&F despite playing only 16 games.

I just wonder about the merits of Karnezis or Mellington vs actually just drafting a medium forward, I actually thing (especially with possible pick in the 20's) we could get someone better than those two.

Maybe even with our 3rd rounder. Plus there's NOB, Gleeson and Merrett who I think can fill that void.

I reckon there are a couple of decent ones out there in Reynolds, Herbert, Hourigan, Willsmore, Marsh and probably others in this draft pool that might be better than mello or karny.

I'll call on the more trained eyes here, because I reckon if we have to spend a pick higher than the 3rd round we're probably just better off going to the draft, when you get to like Karnezis vs pick 106 it becomes another issue though. Yoda_ Humble Minion ant555 thoughts?

I use to be someone who was all for draft picks, selling off Stanton for a top 5 pick back in my early days of BigFooty posting, but have since come around to the fact that these guys are tried and tested in the system and as such, would hold more currency than a draft pick. I'd love to try and get a rough diamond like Michie and turn them into gold (like Sydney did with Josh Kennedy).

I had a staunch debate with some (re. O'Brien developing in the midfield at VFL level yet playing forward at AFL level)and really wished the TRB would play O'Brien up forward in both the VFL and AFL level.

I do agree though, there does seem to be a few quite decent medium forwards who could potentially drop to pick 22 (yeah, yeah. I'm firmly in the pick 22 > Crameri corner).

What do people think about Toby Nankervis? I've heard some pretty good things about him, ie: physically imposing (199cm, 100kg), great tapwork, marking and goal-kicking. Predominantly a ruckman but plays forward really well. Anybody else think we should look at drafting him as a back-up ruck/forward?

He is one of the three younger ruckmen I would seriously look at with our first (current) live pick (#40 - odd). Nankervis, Conlon or Lobb would do me just fine.

Maybe myers is off limits because he is about to enter his prime and so is our list? No point getting some kid and watching jobe and bj retire flagless because we thought about how great our list could be in another 7-8 years time.

As for pick 22 no point jumping for it day 1, see if there's a deal we are actually interested in participating in before we worry about what some ex player or another club want. Walked away from the trade table according to hysterical bullflog fan mark stevens. Pffft.

*Peel B&F. Mellington's the one that plays for the Cardies.

not going to happen

I am worried that Gumby may not find a home. Seems to be little interest in him.

Would seem to fit Power's needs - Key tall who has 5+ years.

I see what you mean (re: Myers) but if a 5th, 6th midfielder can net you a top 5 pick, surely you seriously, seriously look at it? if not, you show your true incompetence as a list manager.

I was reffering to the info that we have "walked away from the trade table" with Essendon wanting a higher draft pick. Yeah, look around, go to all the supermarkets, but don't categorically rule someone out then in a fortnights time go back and say, "oh yeah, we'll take 22". It smacks of arrogance to me.

Well that's the thing, do you classify Karnezis and Mellington as proven AFL commodities? (unless you're talking just in general terms). I don't consider Mellington a proven commodity just as much as you would say someone kid who's played SANFL or WAFL seniors a proven commodity, so for me I'd rather just have the pick to a large degree.

Could be a bust, could be a boom, i'd hazard a guess at more 3rd round + picks coming good than kids who live on the fringes for 3-5 years and then come good at a 2nd club

I am confident that Docherty can play in the midfield.

We are arguing 22 and swap of picks against 13-17.

Not a great deal of difference - Not worth arguing.

Exactly what I was thinking, from what I've read about him he sounds like a very impressive ruck/forward prospect. Could even develop him into that lead-up forward type we'd be lacking in when Crameri goes.
