Myers for NDS no f'in way
Myers for Joey well I could warm to the idea

I'm not blaming the saint veterans wanting out, the club/crazy Watters trades out McEvoy and basically saying "we are going to be shit for the next 5 years" so they aren't even looking at making the 8. The veterans want to taste success now and f off from the joke of a club that they dedicated most of their playing days with.

Be careful of Joey though, he is the ring leader in all of the scandals at st Kilda
- Was with the girl first then palmed her off to Milne
- Was seeing the school girl before she got trained by the rest of them
- nude photos were stolen by the school girl from Joeys phone (he took them)
- Was the one hiring the dwarf that C. Jones ignited.

It's not like BF to let the truth get in the way of a good story. I think you'll find it was Sam Gilbert with the school girl. I'd hardly call it a crime hiring a Dwarf entertainer.

There's no need to worry anyway Joey the ring leader wont be going anywhere.

I think there is a little bit of over valuing and 'EFC Goggles' happening atm.. Myers is not even in our top 5 midfielders (Watson/Heppell/Stanton/Goddard/Melksham/Zaka/Hocking are all probably ahead of him).. and yet some would categorically not trade him for a guy that is a gun that played some great football last season in a crap team..

Montagna is all class.. pure class.. it would be like the Goddard pick up.. and we saw how that went.. these are top players.. true A graders.

Joey is one year older than Jobe/Goddard... and we are assuming both those guys have 2-3 seasons of good footy left in them.

I don't think we will need to trade Myers to get Joey.. but I don't think it should be dismissed so easily. The guy averaged 30 touches, 4 tackles and a goal a game last season.. or 114 SC pts for those inclined.. that puts him in the top group of midfielders in the comp.. geniune A grade..

Myers is yet to crack B+ on regular basis.. lots of ifs and buts..

Montagna definitely an odd one. Never really liked him but he is obviously a great player and just the type we need. How many years would he have left? 2? 3? I am unsure if I would give up Myers for him, but would have to consider it.

Montagna 2013 average: 29.6 disposals and 16 goals
Myers 2013 average 18.4 disposals and 10 goals

I'm sure Montagna's kicking efficiency would be much better too.

Myers with improvement in the next couple of years should end up averaging 25 or so disposals over a long time, while Montagna will slowly decline in the next couple of years. While Myers will probably neber be the player Montagna is, he will be value for much longer. So Myers or Montagna?

Would Saints accept that? I am guessing probably not.

Saints are having a fire sale of the guys they recruited that Lyon took to within a kick of a flag..

The core of that team was Montagna, Hayes, Goddard, Roo, NDS

These are elite players.. and if they want to give them away.. why not take them? We have no picks in the draft anyway.. and as long as we don't have to sacrifice our entire list policy.. it just makes good sense to me...

As Hawthorn and Sydney have repeatedly shown.. one guy can make the difference.. take us from a 'nearly' team to a real flag tilt team..

Looking at next season.. Would Montagna produce more than even, say, Myers? Well yep probably...

Worry about 3 years time.. in 3 years times.. there will be more free agents in 3 years.. players from GC and GWS looking to come home.. or players wanting to come to the club that has just won their third flag in a row..

*IFFF we got Montagna.. then obviously you wouldn't bother with NDS.. but I'd prefer Tags to NDS..

There we go 'if'. You're talking as if Montagna is a certainty to win us a flag next year. The type of player we need more of is hard bodied midfielders. You don't trade one out for a 29 year old outside runner.

If we want a 29 year old, we should look to get one for free as a free agent. The idea being that you don't have to lose good players on your list.

Funny. I was under the impression our mids couldn't deliver the ball to the fwd half.
Point I am making is Myers is being talked up as some super footy player. Fact is he has several weaknesses and if we upgrade on him even if for only a couple of season when Jobe and BJ are in their prime, why is it a foregone conclusion that it is stupid?

Yeah I beleive your list manager or whoever that Ameet Baines guy is said that categorically Montanga isnt going anywhere, so not sure where this rumor is coming from

Myers definately looked better this year.. and getting on the park helps and we all HOPE he becomes a very very dangerous mid...

but the reality of his exposed form.. is that he is relatively slow, predictable on the left and can lack awareness and vision at times.

Do we give him away? Hell no.. does his name come up in trade scenarios? Yes.. because if you have to 'give' something to get something back.. you might as well give your 'worst' best 22 midfielder..
