Myers actually showed something this year, the others you have name haven't that's including gumbys 16+ odd games in the one season


your the one that bought up one aspect of Myers game, don't get narky now at me because I used it against you.

No I brought up a serious flaw in a midfielders game which has run him (AND US) into trouble several tiumes. You brought up a flaw in a fwd who more than compensated for it.

And what did Myers show this season? Serious question, no ulterior motive. Am keen to hear it (I actually was a Myers fan until this year).

Rumours are that Thompson doesn't rate his game that highly.. and as mentioned.. he is clearly now ranked behind the following for full time midfield spots:

Watson, Heppell, Goddard, Stanton, Zaka, Hocking, Melksham

Is competing with the following for rotating midfield/HB/HF spots:
Hibberd (yes), Howlett, Winderlich, Chapman, Merrett, EKav, Hams, Colyer

I've said it before.. most teams now carry 3 tall Def, 2 small Def, 1 rotating Def/Mid.. 2 Rucks, 3 tall Forward, 1 small def forward, 2 rotating For/Mid.. 6 'full time' mid's, 1 Tagger and 1 utility as the sub..

Look at the roles Myers *could* play:
Rotating Def/Mid.. but has to beat Dempsey/Hibberd so not likely - Hibberd most likely
Rotating For/Mid.. but will have to beat Chapman, Zaka, Winderlich, Merrett, Howlett.. and he is not a natural foward so not likely - Chapman and Winderlich most likely
Tagger - not likely, this will be Hocking
Pure Mid's - has to beat Watson (1), Heppell (2), Goddard (3), Stanton (4), Melksham (5) Zaka (6).. so not likely..

I'm not looking to argue.. I'm just saying that I wouldn't be surprised if the reason why Myers is looking around (and we are looking at 'what' is out there.. ) is because he knows/we know.. he is not going to be part of our starting midfield next year..

So would I trade him for Montagna.. absolutely.. Montagna goes ahead of both Melksham and Zaka.. and probably Stanton..

Stanton is a lock until we either he is old and has ost his running ability or our mids are super awesome.

He can easily rotate fwd like he did this year, except our midfield suffered when he was injured and had to play fwd.

All players are rotating. Jobe forward, Zaka Wings etc. Myers played every game this year when fit. Coaches clearly do rate him. Your theory also assumes we have a dream run with injury like we did this year.

Myers is arguably ahead of those two as well. I see where you're coming from - we have a sneaky chance to pinch a flag in the next couple of years.

I think our main push will be after that, when that core group has a few more years of improvement. I see Myers as complementing that group well, Joey will be useless at that point.

Myers will be kept. Raking left foot who can find the ball and win it on his own. Has just gotten his body right and had his best season to date at 24. Is good in front of goals also which is nice.

Required player and will only improve. Won't be going anywhere.

You don't just trade top 6 picks after they show a bit of promise.

Really? Dank is flavour of the month with the AFL. even tanking will be tied back to him. He is the source of all evil.

No I see Daniher as a 19 year old and I see Myers as a what 23-24 year old who has been passed already by Hepps, Hocking, Howlett and Melksham.

Of those four only Heppell and Melksham are younger than him (and I'm pretty sure of those two the ONLY one that's definitely better than Myers is Heppell as Melksham is inconsistent as hell).
As for the other two Hocking is OLDER than Myers and plays a COMPLETELY different role in the side (Hocking is a tagger, Myers isn't), and Howlett is the same age and on career averages their stats are very similar (Myers only averages 1 less disposal per game than Howlett), and as for this season Myers had a better year by far.
So right now I'd say that Myers is worse than Heppell, equal with Melksham and (from a statistical perspective) better than BOTH Hocking and Howlett (funny theirs no insistence that we trade either of them...)
Maybe check your facts before you go making silly comments again ok?

Best and fairest's, etc. are funny things, it may seem like a daft example but I would say Pendlebury had a better year than Swan, yet Swan polled more Brownlow votes. You've got to realise that some people just pay more attention to some players than they do others, naturally they know Myers has what it takes at AFL level and knows he goes about his business, whereas they would've had to keep a close eye on Kommer to make sure picking him up wasn't a complete stuff up.

True, I just get sick of some people ripping on Kommer. He's no Jobe, but he's no Alwyn or Leroy either if you get my meaning.
