Like who Eth? Not many good delisted guys left is there??

I must admit I haven't looked closely, but a guy like Ben Mabon (was delisted by North wasn't he?) may be a chance

If there's a player that Essendon think they can recruit that will fit in our Best 22 sooner rather then later I'd be up for it, else I'd stick with Jetta for 1 more year.

Our list is becoming better and better and I for the life of me can't quite pick who will be chopped next year, so jetta being there will actually help to a degree.

Jetta (would need a near miracle to stay after next year)
Hardingham ( has been good but not great)
Aylett (we took his 1 year contract because of Edwards we will see)

Aylett automatically got a one year extension.

If I had a guess it would be Jetta, Fletch :(, Kommer (hope more than think)

Obviously it's mainly the younger guys training, but some good names to be seen in the top 5 of that time trial.
I'd really like to see Browne get the Melksham/Merrett/Kommer treatment and give him 6-7 games straight to start the season.

completely agree with this statement. It helped Melksham with his confidence to have continuity in his game and look where his season ended? strong 5th on B&F and lock-in best 22.
Surely 2014 is a very important year for Browne to do something more than be a puppet on True Value ads each week.

With melksham missing the first two rounds there might be a spot for Browne to show us what he has got.

I wonder if next year will see us rotating players a lot due to the new cap.

Delist Kommer!!??? Please... And I suppose your one of those who wants to keep Pears?
Not one player on our list has the tenacity, capacity to chase lost causes and put in repeat efforts more than Kommer. Come to think of it, no other player does. Furthermore, he has pace to burn, clean hands and a decent set shot.
Granted he can go missing sometimes and needs to bulk up, but that comes with time in the system -adds a vital ingredient to the team that no one else possesses.
EFC would use Puopolo from Hawthorn as a prototype of Kommer
Please see he's last quarter effort on the wing when the game was in the balance against West Coast as a reason he is a big part of the future.

Paul_Barnard I think Pears is overrated as well, but what has that got to do with Kommer? Kommer is your classic Matt White player. He can run fast and it seems like he applies good pressure but he has no offensive prowess. That's the difference between him and Puopolo, who is also shit mind you, Puopolo actually adds to their offense.

Kommer is a one trick pony with his one trick being something that we don't need. Please look at his shithouse ability to cause any headaches offensively or defensively to see how he doesn't have a place in our future.

With Kommer, I admire his endeavour and tenacity, as I'm sure everyone does. The problem is, and this isn't really his fault, is that we're playing him basically as a guy who will run and chase to make up for a few guys who don't/can't. Defensive pressure and harassing should be an all-round team effort, but we tend to pick 1-2 guys solely for this role to cover for the guys who don't. It's not the way to go.

As for Kommer personally, I wouldn't have him in our best side, but I'll be intrigued to see him with another year or 2's fitness under his belt. Does need to average that 1.5 type goals a game I feel though, and he's nowhere near that at the moment.

Agree with the Kommer points..

Also think Pears has a lot of room to develop.. however I would still prefer Pears on the list to many of the other options out there..

He's being played out of position, though. He's not a forward, but we threw him in there because no one else knows how to tackle. Tough on-baller who can, with a few pre-seasons, play an important role as a rotating mid who starts on the bench. TRB obviously thinks highly of him - when was the last time a pick in the 70s played every game available in their first season?

Kommer needs to do a lot of work with Chappy over the summer.

if he can get dangerous as a leading forward then he becomes an actual handful because not only is he going to be harassing you as a defender, then you actually have to give him respect offensively.

Would obviously mean he'd snag a few more, but would also limit the impact of his opponents

Spot on.

Midfielder being played out of position.

back to actual trade/draft stuff, those of you with sharp eyes may have noticed something in the latest training update on the essendon website

if you look at about the 2.20 mark, behind DVU, there's a tall bloke who's clearly not Steinberg wearing 25. That would be our old friend Michael Sikora if i'm not mistaken.

That's a clear statement of interest if ever i've seen one, this time last year Kommer was training with us.

And before anyone starts steiny was there as well, hasn't and won't be delisted

Eagle eye/10

Apeness? He's apparently exceptional at both roles (being equally as good in each position). Not sold on Brown as the fact he's been overlooked 3 times has me worried that maybe clubs don't rate him.

I really hope that his name is pronounced as "APE-NESS" as opposed to the alternative.

i've been running with ap-ness, which is by far the least racially insensitive/provocative of the 3 i've heard

I'm gonna roll with A-pee-ness, because I have the mentality of someone ten years younger than me.

Kommer was gifted about 80% of his senior games, so he should consider himself a very lucky boy to of represented our proud club 19 times at senior level 2013.

He sure isn't a forward and heaven help us if we start gifting him time in the mid field in 2014.

The thing is, I don't see any outstanding midfield attributes either. He doesn't look great in the packs, has a kick far too short and sprays it when kicking more than 35 metres (like Lonergan) and doesn't really read the play very well.
