who was 31 was it Sal? I say he'll take that for no real reason other than I don't think he'll get a single digit straight away. But what do I know!

Does anyone else think a bit like me and would like to see the players go through their whole career with a club with the same number ? I know it must be a thrill for a player to be assigned the number of a past champ, and I know some clubs haves different traditions, but...

I always remember when Justin Madden went to Carlton from Essendon, got given number 44, played 14 -15 seasons, won 3 B&Fs and never changed his number. Holds the record in that club for most appearances in #44. Tim Watson, Roo, etc much the same. But we seem to move our players around in the numbers game.

Not saying it's a bad thing, but wonder why sometimes. Is it really necessary, or just tradition. Please don't put me down for asking this, I just don't know the reasoning or history behind it, as many other clubs don't do it to the extent we do.

Anyway, I hope Trengove keeps number 12, as there has been some investment put in attire wise.

My predictions....

4 - Wingard (Wanganeen vibes)
7 - Ebert (family significance)
20 - Renouf (ruck connection)
24 - McCarthy (we gave him 24 hours notice before drafting him!)
31 - DaButch (next to big bro)
35 - Ah Chee (looks like he could be something special, happy to give him a champs number)
36 - Blee (defender from WA, just like the Grew)
41 - Pheiffer (needs a decent haircut, just like Dav did!)

Unless they decide to give Danny Butcher a 40's number due to him being a rookie, I agree with all of these.
