Player Performance

I love hearing peoples points of view so i was wondering what people thought of our players performance this year. (ill do mine soon)

ill just have my view on the people that cop abit on here
Cross we all know he has never being quick, a long or good kick but other than that he is one of the best players out there
Sherman big big big let down, should not be on the list after this year, shit performances and shit attitude
Cordy has a long way to go but a very bright future, some of his contested marks have being great but needs that to be consistent, but that will come in time

Austin i really like and has coped abit from some people on here. Surely he is better than Marko. He has done some really good things but would like abit more confidence from him to take a grab and not just spoil all the time
DJ i did think there was a spot for him but i think now its abit of wasted time on him, the kids we will get in the draft will come in and almost be instantly better
Moles i really like Moles and i don't think he has had enough of an opportunity, but by the looks of it he is done by the end of the year
Addison i think he isn't that bad, he can take a mark and most of the time do a good job on his opponent.
Boyd he goes out there and gives it his all and with a better team he would be one of the top players of the game, just a little pick is his disposal thats why if he was at say Collingwood he would be of more use because he would be able to just kick it out and someone would mark it
Cooney sadly i think its past what he is capable of, to me he has become a list clogger, he has lost everything that made him a star
Dal he is a gun, can have some quiet games but even in those what he does do he gives it his all. he is just a star
DickO a key for us to have in our forward line, works his ass off every game, in the air and on the ground
Gia surprisingly to everyone i do like Gia but age has caught up to him, not a bad season (goal wise) he has done his part, but provides nothing else
Gilbee another that the game has passed, at times i think he could keep up another year but its come to an end for him
Grant is a hard one, SOOOOO much potential. Has done some good things this year and has also being abit off at times. Still i think he has a future as one of our forwards

DJ - Could do well with consistent games. After a few in a row late last season he started to really lift. Broke his hand and then copped another quad injury. Will probably be replaced. It's a shame.

Sherman - Plays very well around good big forwards. The dogs don't have any right now so his game suffers. Could play off half back, but there are already a number of others who play there. He is like the final piece of the puzzle for a team with an almost complete forward line. Unfortunately, we don't have a forward line just yet so his chances of being around next year are slim. I wouldn't be totally shocked if he was kept on, but he definitely wouldn't get as much money. A pretty ordinary year for him unfortunately.

Jones - Gets molested by 2 or 3 opposition backs every time he plays. No wonder he can't get much of the ball. Maybe with Tom Williams playing up forward now Jones might get a little less attention in the next few games if he is played. People need to be more patient with him is my verdict.

Addison - DFA is good. Highly underrated. Probably because he only has one speed. Head first. A suitable replacement for Hargrave in my opinion.

Hargrave - Started off well enough. Progressively played worse. Not sure if it was due to injury or not, but he stopped being effective for the most part. Probably time to call it quits. Was a great player though.

Gilbee - Has played quite well since returning. Excellent reader of the play and great interceptor this year. Still has a great kick as we saw on the weekend kicking a nice running goal from 55 meters out. If he loses more pace it may be time to call it quits, but his current speed is ok for the role he is playing. Could maybe go another year, but it won't be the end of the world if he doesn't.

Minson - Probably the most consistent player in the team right now. With a better midfield he would look great because his tap work wouldn't go to waste. Hell, in any other team with a good midfield and decent forward line he would be getting the Maric treatment.

Higgins - I don't know if you can call it a break out season, but losing Higgins in the Carlton game showed just how important he has become this year. I rate his year to date highly and hopefully he can continue it upon return.

Gia - Has had a reasonable year to date. Nothing amazing but also not terrible. Should retire at the end of the year. Higgins has taken his spot in the forward line and rotating through the mid in my opinion. They are very similar players with their craftiness and accurate kicking.

i thought that personnel attacks on players were not allowed yet again this week is the same as the last 4or5 maybe longer this person who is called king snow has deliberately villified sherman as a player and a person .just because someone has not been playing to there ability does not mean they are no good especially when you are not played in position and you are not able to run the ball as should be happening.he does not play up when dropped or hang his head .get off his back leon , tony dean and you most of all king snow

I agree that some of the "critiques" of players lack objectivity and are too personal in nature - sometimes they are an attack on the person, rather than on their performance. Best you leave it at that though Granny, as Justin is not without some form of his own in this regard.

Roughead is having a real go and deserves to be perservered with i think he will have a break out game.

I'll get flamed for this but he only had one really good year. Was only solid enough over the rest of his career.

He's done and I hope he knows it and retires himself.

Kind of this. You can tell that he might not have the greatest friendship base at the club - but he actually has a good attitude to footy. He was actually one of our better players last year but he's always going to struggle a bit as a finisher in a side that's struggling.
