Player Targetted

Each year in the 1 day series, there is usually one or two players from the visiting team the crowd targets with chants and fruitful tunes. Previous years we've had Pat Symcox (sp) from South Africa and last year it was generally directed towards Sachin Tendulkar.

Anyone who went to the game at the MCG or picked it up on tele, do you know who the targetted player this series will be? My tip is Brian Lara

Yep - he got a few boo's tonight & he got the loudest cheer when he went out. Although the cops copped a bit of stick as well!!

Only Lara would attract any crowd attention. The rest of the Windies team is made up of youngsters or duds who the crowd wouldn't waste their breath on. The Zimbabweans are largely unknown and I doubt they have anyone in their squad with enough personality to incite a round of booing from any crowd.

Why would you want to boo one of the top three batsmen in the world. I love watching Lara in full flight. I don't want the Windies to win but watching the very best players at their best is why I watch cricket.

He's not like a Phil Tuffnell who is a genuine w***er and deserves a bit if flak.

The funny thing was no-one responded...but they kicked him out anyway.

It was the first time I have seen someone ejected from the ground for counting to 5 (couldn't have been a Collingwood supporter obviously).

I couldn't get over on how quiet the Sydney crowd was against the West Indies the other night (maybe it's hard to tell on Nine's coverage but the Melbourne game seemed to have more trouble makers than Sydney). Of course there was that streaker, but I didn't see/hear any mexican waves or beach-balls being tossed around.

Hey Spogs I don't know why you think Tuffers is a genuine w***er,he may be a crap batsman,an awful fielder & an inconsistent bowler but he's an ok guy he's not up himself or anything,he likes a smoke,a beer & a bit of a laugh as u Aussies might say he's a bit of a Larrakin.There's certainly pricks more worthy of a bagging in world cricket than him,ie Sean Pollock,Ranatunga,Lara,Inziman,Stewart,McGrath(LOL)

Well GoEagles I think the other one who gets the most grief from the crowd is McGrath as it's pretty easy to get a reaction from him,I think last season some supporters got on his back somewhere over here & he started giving them some back.On the whole I don't think it gets too bad(not like at the footbal over here where it gets real nasty)but from what I've heard some of the Warney chants r pretty sick,on the whole if England r going well it's pretty good natured & a bit of fun.If McGill plays then I'd be pretty sure that once the crowd saw what he was about they'd get after him as well.
