No Data was recorded for these matchups, but reasons exist (see below) :

Baylor v Jakob
These two players started on each other, but Jakob went to the interchange within the first minute of the game, and they never had the opportunity to fight over the footy.

Delano v Blom
Blom was benched 12 seconds into the match. Hence no time for any competition between these two players, and no data.

Constantine v Blom
These two marked each other for just six minutes and the ball never came that way during that time, and no data was therefore recorded.

Pals v Yoakum
Yoakum came onto the ground at the 22 minute mark of the final quarter, and during the last 3 minutes of the match the ball never went near either of them

Blom's day. Off at start, back on, got plenty early, then dried up and the ball never went his, nor his opponent's, way much at all.

End of match

It's true, I am awesome.

Blom beat Ardito today - but not by much.
I'm not sure that what Holt did to Ardito should be entirely legal.
It could be argued that Arney had the better game against Daniel - although there was very little in it.
Not much between Holt and Arney - the former was probably a smidgeon better.
Waite did a demolition job on Baylor.
Welsh came out tops over the brave Blankenship.
Burggraf won the bout with Daniel.
Diehm did a demolition job on Burggraf.
Burggraf was easily the winner in the clash with Marcotte.
Newkirk did a demolition job on Daniel.
Delano and Girouard were evenly matched.
Delano was slightly more polished than Murphy.
Diehm and Delgado were well-matched - there was no victor.
Gill did well against Jakob.
Maldonado gave Gill a hiding.
Not much between Roach and Girouard - the former was probably a smidgeon better.
Gurley did very well against Petersen.
Gurley came out tops over the brave Roach.
Haller and Rhoden were hard to separate - though Haller was slightly more effective.
Not much between Sproul and Lockhart - the former was probably a smidgeon better.
Marcotte either broke even with Muncy or vaguely bested him - it was hard to tell.
Not much between Waldron and Meaney - the former was probably a smidgeon better.
Pals and Merritt were well-matched - there was no victor.
Not much between Muncy and Murphy - the former was probably a smidgeon better.
Newkirk was slightly more polished than Yoakum.
Norton and Rothman were evenly matched.
Petersen and Yoakum were well-matched - there was no victor.
Raynor came out tops over the brave Troester.
Roach won the bout with Yoakum.
Wenig had the better of Templin.

Okay, added a second element to qualify that when player 1 had 3 kicks all day and player 2 had 0, while it was a beating, it was still a crap day for both players:

MATCH-UPS :
  • In what was a very slow day for both, Combs was easily the winner in the clash with Ardito.
  • Neither having much reason to brag, Ardito and Hetherington were hard to separate - though Ardito was slightly more effective.
  • While worlds were set on fire, Hobbs massacred Ardito.
  • While not all all one-way, Arney had the better of Skeen.
  • In a bit of an exhibition, Baylor gave Seifert a bit of a touch-up.
  • In quite a tussle, Newkirk was slightly more polished than Beem.
  • While both players struggled to make an impact, Beem had the better of Waldron.
  • In an epic battle, Blankenship did well against Jahnke.
  • While very slim pickings for both players, Gill had the better of Bostick.
  • While not all all one-way, Sproul had the better of Bostick.
  • In a resume-material performance, Branch was easily the winner in the clash with Roach.
  • Neither having much reason to brag, Burggraf had the better of Hartsell.
  • Neither having much reason to brag, Hobbs was slightly more polished than Burggraf.
  • In quite a display, Combs won the bout with Delgado.
  • Regardless that this wasn't a huge game for either player, Combs had Newkirk's measure.
  • In a comparatively small-fry arm wrestle, Hartsell did well against Constantine.
  • In a resume-material performance, Delano won the bout with Eubanks.
  • In an enthralling contest, Desilva came out tops over the brave Rhoden.
  • Neither having much reason to brag, Pals and Diaz were hard to separate - though Pals was slightly more effective.
  • While both players struggled to make an impact, Sproul was slightly more polished than Diaz.
  • In an enthralling contest, Waldron came out tops over the brave Diaz.
  • While the match-up was a bit of a side-show, Diaz and Wenig were hard to separate - though Diaz was slightly more effective.
  • Neither having much reason to brag, Messenger did very well against Gill.
  • Neither having much reason to brag, Gill came out tops over the brave Miller.
  • Toe to toe throughout, Petersen either broke even with Hartman or vaguely bested him - it was hard to tell.
  • Neither having much reason to brag, Hartman did well against Wenig.
  • Neither having much reason to brag, Muncy and Hetherington were evenly matched.
  • In what was a very slow day for both, Newkirk won the bout with Hetherington.
  • In quite a display, Norton was easily the winner in the clash with Luna.
  • In a comparatively small-fry arm wrestle, Pals did very well against Miller.
  • Neither having much reason to brag, Parks did very well against Muncy.
  • Neither having much reason to brag, Pals and Parks were hard to separate - though Pals was slightly more effective.
  • Neither having much reason to brag, Pals was slightly more polished than Ping.
  • In an enthralling contest, Parks had the better of Wenig.
  • While not all all one-way, Raynor had the better of Piliero.
  • Spending most of the game pushing and shoving each other, it could be argued that Ping had the better game against Waldron - although there was very little in it.

I always put in old clubs for my testing purposes, another league set up at the moment consists of Glenorchy, Halls Gap, Pomonal, Illawarra, Joel Rovers and either Marnoo or Woollen Mills I can't remember which in the latest incarnation. Basically a South Wimmera FL love-in.

By the way over the years there had also been teams in Callawadda, Lubeck, Wallaloo, Wallaloo East, Green's Creek, Concongella, Buangor, Mt Cole/Warrak, Barkly, Longerenong, Jung, ... would be awesome to one day have all these replicated in Qooty-run leagues :D

Love this, think it would add another aspect to banter and games, and also could help with best and fairest counts.

Any chance of goals conceded to your direct opponent becoming a stat? Would help select AA backmen so that boncer can't make bullshit decisions like he did last season.

That would be awesome and I do intend to expand upon it when I get the chance.

Currently there is an issue where a bloke who kicked 5 goals straight, but only had five kicks and nothing else, was marked as having a slow day LOL. (Obviously its based on his low disposals and doesn't take into his account how damaging he was on the scoreboard).

Once I get to factor the scoring in to the form a bit better, then yeah, it'll be stuff like Tarks' suggestion that will make it more fun again.

Primarily though I need to get it to mention how long each matchup was for, Tarks beating Magro, losing to Barham, breaking even with Wearmouth means little until we know which one he spent two quarters on and which ones he was on for 2 minutes during rotations.

I used it in the Wonders/Roys praccy and people responded to it, so it seems to be a winner.

Could you set an arbitary limit on how long they have to have played on each other for? > 30% game time would be fair, any less and the match up is probably insignificant in the context of the game.

Also, maybe condense the notes so that only duels where on player has clearly won (>10 point differential using your point system) are displayed. It gets cluttered reading the current output.

Now, an a completely different note, thinktanking here, is there the potential of adding a tagging function? Ie. each team can nominate a maximum of 2 players that play 100% of the game time against a certain opponent (that is, one player gets moved, so does his direct opponent so that they are still playing on one another?) Would preserve a bit in the way that boncer and lj could finally settle their little bragging contests?

Yeah I probably could, once I get the times sorted. It's a good idea too, although I'd do a lower %. Also, some players are going to want to know their details regardless. If I was on the bench, and came on for just 10 minutes of the match, onto a rampaging FF, I'd love to know what the Sim thought of my efforts. Maybe I could categorise, have the more brief matchups in a second grouping.

Not sure I agree with this, as if two combatants were toe to toe all game in the midfield, I'd want to know whether the Sim thought one snuck home over the other. I get the point though, again, maybe categorisations : Trouncings, epic battles and nondescript smalltime irrelevancies. Separate headings, lower visibility as it works down.

Oh man you don't ask much do you :p Hehe this would be really hard, but yes it'd be great if it could happen. Too hard basket for now, I'm afraid :(

As the second most selfish captain at the Hawks, I think if that were the case I'd actually prefer player by player breakdowns of duels, though I don't know how much extra work that creates for loopy and your good self.

Well it shouldn't be any work for loopy, as the current situation is automatically added to the Forum Friendly stats. But opponent by opponent breakdown, phew, taking missus to a hosp visit today so will re-read and think about it when back. Would be possible, would be hard work.

No probs Mobbs, I'd imagine it'd involve pairing comments along the lines of;

destroyed <Player 2> today
couldn't keep up with <Player 1> today

So that at the end of the game, you'd get

<Player 1>
===================
87:12 destroyed <Player 2> today
12:88 off the ground

<Player 2>
====================
87:12 couldn't keep up with <Player 1> today
6:54 broke even with <Player 3>
6:34 just better than <Player 4>

If that doesn't make any sense I'll illustrate with an example using names;

Farmer
===================
87:12 destroyed Lockyer today
12:88 off the ground

Lockyer
====================
87:12 couldn't keep up with Farmer today
6:54 broke even with Hasleby
6:34 just better than Walker

Obviously, it would take a ****load of effort, but it would also make the need for the gametime file obsolete largely.

Best of luck with your missus Mobbs too.

Yeah, good luck with that Mobbs.

Personally, I think the match-ups are a bit too 'wall-of-text' ish, but I don't have a simple solution for it.

The problem with either highlighting key matchups or only showing longer matchups is that it gives away too much information in regards to Mobb medal counts, and creates a larger gap between prominent positions.

I do like Tarks suggestion; the times are how long the matchup went for if I understand it correctly, and you could group that into a code box without it looking too messy.
