REPORTS -
Gehrig (StK) by umpire Kennedy for striking J.Carr (Fremantle) in the first quarter;
Farmer (Frem) for striking Harvey;
Hayes (StK) for attempting to strike Dodd
Hudghton for spitting at McPharlin"

I only wish Gehrig had hit Josh Carr harder. That little mongrel has had it coming for a long time. I don't know what St.Kilda people think but I think the club could mount a defence for Gehrig highlighting the intimidation and provocation he was sublect to, not only by Carr but also from Grover and Mundy. It was obviously a pre-match tactic to get Gehrig as upset as possible, and it worked. I don't think Freo should get away with it like they are doing.

Will Hayes get off? I got money on him for the Brownlow. :o

I think he will actually. He swung, then stopped himself and no contact was made. Surprised it made it onto the books actually.

Gehrig cleared of striking
Monday 1 May 2006
Sportal for afl.com.au

St Kilda has received mixed news from the AFL's match review panel after star forward Fraser Gehrig was cleared of striking but key midfielder Lenny Hayes faces suspension on an attempting to strike charge.

Gehrig was reported for striking Fremantle's Josh Carr during Sunday's clash in Launceston but the panel found the burly forward made contact to Carr's face with an open hand and a pushing motion rather than a strike.

But Hayes has been charged with a Level Three striking offence against Docker Steven Dodd during the first quarter at Aurora Stadium.

The incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point), in play (no points) and high contact (two points), equating to 125 demerit points and a one-match suspension.

But Hayes has an applicable bad record of a two-match suspension - increasing the penalty by 10 per cent to 137.50 points. However, with an early guilty plea that would reduce the penalty by 25 per cent to 103.13 points and a one-match suspension.

In the other notable case, Fremantle's Jeff Farmer has been offered a two-match suspension for striking St Kilda's Robert Harvey.

Put $10 on at 81/1. I was cheering cause at my estimate i thought he would of been on about 6 votes after the first 3 or 4 rounds

He'll get off surely, if they appeal, right?

i reckon he will get off, will probably be able to reduce "intentional" to reckless and that should get him off i think

That's all they need to do, knock it down from reckless.

We are given you guys because we both have no real traditional rival, but have the last 3 or so years with some close games.
