I thought it would be good to post a thread to list players you will avoid selecting in your team.

You might be avoiding them because of injury, slow starts, price, the fact they've screwed you in the past or you just plain don't like them!

Let's hear who WON'T be in your team this year!

Kerr
Betts
Medhurst
Kerr
Koschitzke
Fevola
Kerr
Muston
Roughead
Kerr

Got burnt last year and ran out of trades. Left with 3 donuts for last 4 games.:(

Small forwards like betts and medders are okay but unless they do something other than kick two or so goals a week they don't score that well. Ditto tall forwards that stay at home like Fev (split personality?), Kosi and Roughead.

Got sucked in with Muston last year:o and I don't care if he averages 100 for the first 10 games he won't be in my side.

And my mate Kerr....................words don't describe the hate I now have for this bloke:mad:

quick list of players im sterring clear for various reasons.
It is just an opinion, if you think im way off thats fine just relax, be happy when you beat me buy a couple of hundred thousand this year

All 2nd year players...personal rule, they always seem overpriced and can find it tough the second year.

Previous burning:
Fev, Gilbee, Cornes, Roughead

Can start slow or major dip in price at some stage:
J.Brown, ...just about any back

Simply dont like as a player or SC option:
Leon Davis, Lockyear, thornton, R.Shaw, Scotland, Maxwell

Getting on(aging, avg could start to fall/overtaken buy youth):
Mcloud, B.Johnson, Milburn, kirk, power, black, bruce, cousins, edwards, haselby

Players that never seem to quite deliver:
Stanton, Griffen, Lewis, brennan, batemen, Reily, Pearce, kelly, Macfee, s.johnson, lynch, stokes, mooney, kosi, monfries, cloke

Injury Risks:
Drummond, Chapmen, Cox, Cornes, hall, brennan, gia, hille

Pretty solid list, though I think J Brown is a good price and Shaw and Gilbee warrant some consideration.

Of those, I had Stanton, Lynch, Roughead, Cornes and Brown last year. I'll avoid the first four in 2010.

Didn't Luke Hodge burn anyone here last year?

The dude can hardly play a full year, averaged about 18 games the last two years - i paid 632K for the privilege, expecting a guaranteed 110pts per game.

Having given you that rant I'll recommend him to anyone else but me - just superstitious that's all!

Fev & Brown I'm avoiding just due to the fact that I don't know if each other will impact their scoring, plus I don't need the Fev rollercoaster this year.

Judd... for the first three rounds.

Roughead, Raines & J Riewoldt all burned me last year but I still keep thinking about putting J Riewoldt in.

Jarrad Waite. Won't score like he did in 2009 now that he is playing forward. Also coming back from a knee.

Why is that kreuze? HMac came back well from his knee last year, what worries me is how quickly he can expect to get back to full capacity making him a possible pickup later in the year, or even around round 6 or 7, i had him in 08, was going to grab him ly then the Adelaide disaster!
I still rate him highly tho!

People need to remember the position he was playing in 2009 - a sweeper in the back half, most of the time without an opponent. Alot of his possessions were Joel Bowden-esque cheapies, very few of which were earned in contested situations. He is not a great contested mark, nor is he a great kick for goal, his decision making is poor and his turnover rate is high. The only real positive in his game is his athletic ability, but who knows how much of his step/spring he has lost after the reconstruction.

After almost 12 months out of the game, a position change and the fact that he will now get the opposition's best defender every week (Lake, Bolton etc..) I would have thought that he'd be a risky proposition at best.

Mmmm possibly, assuming that he does strike difficulties up forward his versatility could still see him given a number of various roles, especially if he is given back the straight ahead sweeper role which may be preferable for someone coming back from a knee - i guess the ability to run straight ahead may be his go as he gets his confidence and touch back.

Then if u need him put him up forward.

Very very interesting!

Are you sure about Kerr though??

Re: Waite. I'm not AS damning as my Carlton counterpart there - Waite IS strong in the air and not a terrible kick for goal. However, I agree that Waite's biggest attribute is his overall athleticism. Ie. Speed, agility for his height.

I think this will take some time to come back (unfortunately) following his nasty knee injury. Ultimately, I think he'll be a roaming CHF, like a Riewoldt-Lite. He has a similar size/speed/light-frame/athletic skillset (hell, he always played on Riewoldt in Blues-Saints games) which I think would work great for the Blues as that hit-up target.

But again, this might take some time to come about as he gets confidence back in his knee, and his fantasy points will definitely suffer for not getting the 12 uncontested backline marks he was getting.

Don't like as SC Option??? Amusing - only one player on your 'don't like list' never played for Collingwood. Missed out on a sh!t load of points because you are a pie hater.

Davis 111 pt average, Lockyer 93, Maxwell 92. R Shaw 94, Scotland 93 and Thornton 96.

Good decision!

L.Gilbee, J.Koschitzke and S.Johnson cost me in various ways last year and I doubt I'll pick them at any stage this season.

I'm also wary of picking D.Cox and P.Chapman, considering their respective costs and recent history of injury. The last thing you want is for them to rack up a few 20's due to going off after the first quarter and missing 2-3 weeks on a couple of occasions, which would see their price to drop, meaning a big loss at the trade table.

With all this said though, I've gone for a few risks with players returning from injury who are lower priced (ie: Kennelly, Hunt, Ladson, Warnock and Gumbleton) and also have Adcock and Kerr in my team, so who knows if I'll be better off?! :o

NDS, Kosi, Chapman, Stevie J and Cox. Nds, Kosi and Stevie J have burned me too many times and The other two are just scary on the injury front. Leon Davis for no reason other than he shits me!!

Supercoach doesn't go into the Finals so you should be safe picking him...
