I was at the game today and I noticed that Charlie Gardiner and Henry Playfair both stood up and played really well. Do you guys think they have taken the next step and developed into good key forwards..or is there still work to be done?

I thought both were relatively ordinary (no key forwards really starred).

H presented well enough but was smothered by his opponent.
Charlie gave us something different, although his inability/unwillingness to finish is extremely frustrating.

Charlie showed a little bit today, but IMO is still not ready for AFL football. Showed signs that he can make it, and obviously with Bomber's confidence in him, he thinks he can.

If Enright and Chappy come back it's going to extremely difficult to pick who goes out, which is nice for a change.

I was initially thinking only one change, Chappy in, Gardiner or Nath out. Personally i'd rather Nathan because he can actually kick a goal, but i just can't see Thompson dropping Gardiner.

I don't envy the selectors, even less so should Fumbles also be deemed ready.

Not only can Nath actually kick a goal, but he does straighten us up considerably.Even though he hasn't had many stats in the last couple of weeks, he just has a big presence about him, and takes another defender.

His ability to find space and lead into it is also invaluable. Could be the difference in the end.

I thought both Charlie and H were ordinary, too. Charlie just doesn't seem to be able to dispose of the ball properly. Did some nice things in amongst the packs though.

Charlie once again showed he has obvious class about him, but it's been as spasmodic as ever.

It's a pity we've been saying the same thing over and over about him for just about all of the 43 games he's played. A few good things here and there; nothing more.

Spot on Shaitan , even at this stage he contest the pack mark and pulls defenders too him, creating space and chance for his team mates. Like the goal that H got at the Punt road end he stayed down while Nathan went up and contested against 2 or 3 in a pack. His leads are either too quick or the other guys are just to slow at the present but given time I really feel he could be a legit Key Forward.
H and Gardiner were ordinary today.H started show a bit late but he is out of touch.Gardiner now this guys is a worry. If Jack reckons he is a legit CHF option then Jcks foolin himself. For a guy who plays as link he sure kicks a lot of scrubers,H is a poor kicks as well but he will always less kicks on the run and more set shots than Charlie. Really I cant believe we took him before Steve Johnson

Our whole forward structure is ordinary and it was just a good matchup for us yday, Gardiner, Playfair, Kingsley and Nathan never looked dangerous and this is our main problem and what will prob stop us from going all the way.

We just don't look dangerous with our talls up forward, i jusat wish we had a Brown or hall cause i think we could win it.

Gardiner will go if chappy retuns which is still doubtful, don't thnik Enright will play but either Mackie or Sanderson would go but unlikely there

Good win but our forward line still gives mee nightmares

That game should have been over a lot earlier than it was. We cant drop Nathan though we just need that big body. I think at the moment it would be CRAAAZZZYYY.

Didnt think either did much, Playfair just seems to go to ground alot in marking contests, but thought at times Gardiner was ok, but that for other players is still not good enough for this level. Hopefully Chappy back but dont see it and Enright wouldn't be at all match fit would he?

I'd probably favour Enright in his current state rather than Charlie. Gardiner just looked out of sorts yesterday, his goal kicking has always been average, but yesterday his around the ground kicking was horrible, an area where he is usually pretty good. He didn't choose the right options either, his marking was the only area where he was good.

H started to get into the game after half time, but by then the sting was well and truly out of the game. The positive sign was that he did do a couple of things early and was starting to hold his marks despite the pressure (on him individually) late in the game. Hopefully he can continue this form into next week, another 2 goals from him would be very handy.

Kingsley was the biggest dissappointment yesterday. He couldn't take a mark to save his life and just looked a bit lost. He's been good this year, so hopefully he will return to some good form next week and not marr his season. If these 2 can play solid games next week (5 goals between them) then we'll be a good show against the Swans.

N.Ablett must stay in. When he moves up the ground he is creative, he works hard, is very evasive and cool under pressure. When he plays closer to goal he has strong hands and is a perfect kick for goal. Unless he is injured he must play.

Enright is a bit like Corey. Both can miss 3 weeks and return as though they haven't missed any games.

If he's fit enough to play then put him in ahead of Charlie.

Given the nature of his injury and the fact he's been training (albeit no contact work) for at least 3 weeks, there's absolutely no reason to think Boris doesn't at least have the yards in his legs.

Obviously you can't get match fitness on the track, but Enright will have the physical level of fitness required.

H created opportunities and looked good at times but let himself down with some bad skill errors. Charlie was very average, did nothing all day then did his usual trick of getting cheap possesions in the final quarter.

H actually deserved votes just for the magnificent beginnings of mutton chops.

Bloody impressive H.

I hope he continues to grow it and turns up next week with the full on Harley Race/Tim Rogers look.

Reminded me a bit of some kind of yeti/bigfoot type of creature that had wandered down from the mountains and onto a football field. :D

Basically, no matter what H did on Saturday (and he wasn't all that bad), you can't hit the park without a CHF and he's the best we've got. Charlie, on the other hand, contributes little as either a CHF when he bobs up there, or a flanker.

I said earlier the Charlie for Chappy should be the only change - strike that - forgot Enright was almost right. Get the boy in for sure.

I thought both were quite reasonable without being dangerous yesterday. Henry - so often he takes %75 marks this year when he does all the hard work but just not in time to complete the mark with any real security. Gardiner? Next year he HAS to perform. This year he's again shown glimpses and has added a slightly harder edge to his game; it's time for The Next Step.
