Tom Hickey has just been traded to the Swans, his 4th state to play in: Qld (GC), Vic (St K), WA (WC) and now NSW (Syd).
Swampy mentioned Jonathon Giles was listed in 4 states: SA (PORT) NSW (GWS) VIC (ESS) WA (WCE) but didn't play any AFL games while at PORT, but played SANFL for CD & Sturt.

Including the major state level leagues, I know of the following 3 players who also played in 4 states:
  • Derek Kickett: SA (CD), Vic (NM/Ess), WA (WP/Cl/Subi), NSW (Syd)
  • Adrian Fletcher: Tas (Glenorchy), Vic (Gee/StK/Willliamstown), Qld (BB/BL), WA (Freo)
  • Stephen Richardson: Qld (Mayne), Vic (Ess), WA (SD/EP), SA (Norw)
Any others? Any 5s or 6s? (we can debate whether ACT/Queanbeyan/NT are to be included if neccessary!)

Gordon Bowman who played 53 games for Melbourne (1945-50) and 29 for Hawthorn (1950-51) played in four different states. Bowman went from the VFL to the TFL in Tasmania (Sandy Bay), the QAFL (Mayne) and finally the Sydney Football League (Newtown). What's more, Bowman played in premierships in each state: 1948 for Melbourne, 1952 for Sandy Bay, 1961 and 1962 for Mayne and then 1967 and 1968 for Newtown.
