If you wan't a glimpse of how good Polly can be (when He feels like it) drag out a replay of the first derby in 2006.

Especially the last quarter.

Already done that, and spent 5 hours analysing that game :thumbsu:

But thanks for the tip ;)

I am so happy that he is now playing for us and can have many more big games like the '06 derby. He steps up when it counts :D

I was really hoping that we could've either traded for Polak and picked Ackland as first pick in the PSD or vice versa. He would've been a great addition to our KP stocks. He also would've been able to play a CHB role for us, which would've free-ed up Whitnall to play up forward - he would add a new string to our bow. But that's 'water under the bridge' now, so we move on. I think he'll be very good for you guys, especially with Gaspar nearing the end. He will help fix your defense.

I don't understand why the club were telling us that Polak was unfit? He has been in the AFL system for a few years now and was playing and not injured at the end of last year. Now they are saying that they need to teach him how to play as a backman.

Either the club is looking for excuses if he doesn't make the grade quickly or Freo have absolutely no idea how to condition their players and have not educated them how to play their positions properly. I hope it is the latter but I am not so sure.

I think it was in part polak's fault, a commitment thing. He relied upon his natural ability from what i can tell and didnt put in the hard yards. Hopefully he can build up his speed and stamina now as he appears to be in the bottom few at our club for those categories.

It was definitely a commitment thing. The guy has the natural ability, but his off field antics made him more suited to Freo's cross town rivals than the Dockers.

If he can increase his intensity and commitment to putting 100% in both on and off the field, he'll be a gun.

I can accept what you are saying but that still does not account for the fact that he has to be taught how to play as a backman. Surely after years on the Fremantle list they should have taught him something. If his commitment is lacking as well it does not bode well for the future.

I can only imagine how good Freo could be if they had a coaching department that could actually motivate and teach the players how to play their positions.

Lifted just before half-time, top 2nd half

Playing in the ruck? is that true. I only heard on the radio.... He did this last year where he single handedly turned a game against the Eagles. Pity it was his only good quarter for the year. I hope he can turn things around. But it does beg the question what is his best position?

yeah he rucked for the majority of the game. He'll definitely play down back for the majority of the season once we get simmo back. The important thing today was you could see him growing in confidence, starting taking big one grab marks all over the ground and moved well

Stood tall today against a pretty tough opposing rucking team in Jolly and Everitt. Has been great for the past 2 weeks and will only get better as the season progresses.

Will go from strength to strength...since he has marking down, I hope someone can pull him aside each week and do some intensive goal kicking work with him. It would be great to feel confident with him lining up when we need someone down forward. If not, then leave him at CHB and say 'it is yours until 2013!

I thought it was 2011? Did they extend the plan again?

Awesome game by Polak. Took some very strong grabs and was definately in our best players today.
Looking forward to Simmonds return, so that we can throw Polak across the half back line, and possibly have him pinch-hit up forward for half a quarter.

Am rapt with the addition of Polak! When was the last time you had confidence with one of our players (except Richo) in a contested marking situation ? Once he gets to settle into chb with the odd pinch hit up forward,he will be a fine player for us!
