With Owen already out, Vassell increasingly unlikely to play and Smith selected and withdrawn, that crap striker from Southampton who has scored more than Heskey, Rooney and Vassell put together this season will have to get a game.

Picking players on form. What a novel concept.

Better hope he doesnt cop an injury + long layoff eh :D

It was stupid to only pick three strikers in the initial squad anuyway, particularly with injury clouds over two of them and Heskey clouds over the other.

I don't rate Sven as a manager at all, consistenyl picks less able, less in form favourites and ignores the people actually getting the job done at club level. They say that Beattie isn't up to it at international level, how about using a friendly match as a way of determining if that is correct not.

Well said

So far he's played a half against Australia, a 76th and 88th minute substitute appearance and a full game against Liechtenstein. Since then he's gone back to Southampton and consistently scored goals. This friendly would be an ideal opportunity to give him 90 minutes and see if he has what it takes at the highest level.

If he fails, he'll be fit for saints games which is fine. The worry is that he'll think he needs to go to a bigger club to get more opportunities at international level. Bridge didn't think he could displace Ashley Cole at left back for England playing for us. :(

It's not only at senior level either. Man City went through last season losing only one game at U17 level. I'll give you one guess how many City players have made the England U17 squad last week.

Yeah, I know, how very stupid. It's not new though, I mean even Hoddle seemed to have bias in picking players and left out players who were on top form in 1997/98 and in all likeliness deserved their place.

Sven has got the best squad in the world, imagine if Shearer would come back, then England would be unbeatable, how can u feel sorry for him you arseh*le?
