We are 8 wins and 7 losses. We are playing the 13th ranked team on our home ground this weekend. We should win and that will make us 9 wins and 7 losses. 5 of our last 7 games are versus teams not in the current 8. We are not in as bad a position as everyone on this board is making out. Sure we have lost the Birdman which is a tragedy but we have had worse injury lists before and still played good footy. I have faith in Neil Craig and our players and believe you me the ball will start bouncing our way. Once we are in the finals anything can happen.
Im just sick of everyone writing off our season and being so negative. So please, if you are going to be negative feel free to write in all the other negative threads. This thread is for supporters who still think we are a chance. Anyone?

Started this season with low expectations. On the whole its been an enjoyable one, first because we've been in the 8 all year, second because Tippett, Maric, MacKay, Vince, Porps, Bock & Walker have all taken it up a huge notch or two. I think we'll scrape into the finals and that'll provide a lot of quality experience for our younger guns. Having said that, after 97 & 98, I've learnt to remember that football is a funny game, anything can happen
and it probably will.

Spot on. At the start of the year most of us would of been happy with where we are and our fixtures for the remainder of the year. We all got ahead of ourselves with our expectation. We are a proud club, we will make it, mark my words.

We will make the eight.
I had us finishing 6th to begin with but with the benefit of hindsight Id have probably picked eighth spot.

We can revive our season with a confidence building win. Thats all it takes.
We all know our best is good enough -It starts this weekend:thumbsu:

I think we'll definitely make the 8 still.

With Porps and Burton, I believed we could, if things went our way, have an impact on the Finals.

Now, I think we'll make the 8, but I don't think we'll go too far.

I think we will definately make the eight as well, but only making up the numbers though if we could pinch 6th spot and get a home final that would at least be something.

Grabbing 6th spot and a home final would do our younger blokes the world of good for the years to come. I think our injury list has been alot worse than this in the past and we have come through it. McLeod should be back in action soon and hopefully the injection of Hentschell and or Walker would get some real excitment around the side in the next few weeks.

I tip us to do alot better than the morons on the main AFL board are saying:thumbsu:

This season still has been a big improvement from what I had predicted prior to round 1.

This is probably the first showdown since 2000 where neither team is as a minimum a slim outside chance of winning the flag.

Got a thing for Port half backs have you, past and present?

A not so subtle troll. Any reason you could not fit another player 'pic' in it, but i assume it is just a dig at the 'alledged' Port players involved?

Your avatar is reminiscent of their priorities at the time ...

We will win the next 6. The only doubt in my mind is Essendon at the dome. For historical reasons and they have picked a little form.

Remember people we have been playing top four quality sides this month. We are clearly not that. We match up well against Sydney and Port are our bitches. If we claim to be a top 8 side we should beat Richmond and Carlton on our home deck and the Saints we have to beat as I am going over to watch, and the boys dont want to ruin my weekend.

We will lose to the Bulldogs here.

Hence we will end up 14(3)-8(9) and finish 6th with a home final....

So Geoffa has spoken and it shall be done.

In the same fashion you decalred us certainties to be Hawthorn

I remember at the start of this year how worried I was about our ruck stocks in particular with Rhett Biglands leading the attack. When he went down I wasn't sure we'd ever win a ruck contest again.

Life deals you lemons and you make lemonade, who knows, Burton's injury MAY be a blessing in disguise. We're well exceeding my expectations for this year and whether we make the finals or just miss I'll be well pleased with our season. We're more advanced than I ever thought we were.

Time for Jericho to shine???

Ah, finally a positive thread about us talking optimistically.

I've always thought we'd finish in the top 8 even after 4 straight losses, bring in Jericho and some other guy and it should help our forward line woes, if not, just put Johncock in there. I can't see Port getting anywhere in the game, our midfield should be too strong especially if we play that fast footy like in the 1st half in the Collingwood game. But always be wary of Ebert and Motlop.

We should win anyway.

I've recovered from my negative feelings after the Collingwood game. I reckon we should toss the Poower. They were very fast early aganst North, but provided we get on top in the 1st half, we should be comfortable winners. We will finish much stronger than them IMO.

I hope we get the Ebert and Motlop match up right. I love Bass but do not want to see him on either of those two. For me Id be happy with Massie on Motlop, Johncock on Ebert. Not sure if it showing too much respect but Bock on Motlop would be a beauty for us and Im sure Motlop would drop his head very early on. For me whack Bass on the stringbean and obviously Rutten on his bitch.

Exactly. Who knows, when we put walker in the team this week and the filth try to end his career, it may be the best thing that ever happens to his game.

Nothing to do with the above.

There was a letter in the inside of the back page of the Advertiser from a Freddy Bassett of Adelaide??

Could it be.....??? :)

Did notice that one aswell Macca, different Freddy Bassett though....
