A little short on legs after a hot start, but plenty to take from that one (again). The wheel is turning.

Hats off to Mundy. A ripping bloke and perversely happy he got a send off, even if it had to be us. A legend, enjoy the last two games of your career then put your feet up.

Positives
• Immense effort levels. Tackling right up, dug in hard during an absolute slog of a game.

Tom Barrass a late Brownlow charge. **** sake what a player.

• Funny to see Andrew Brayshaw crying to the umpires because some bloke who will be working the checkout next year kept him quiet. Copped the second worst derby beating of his career, by Jackson Nelson ffs.

• Duggan tremendous, Hurn good. A healthy JJ and Yeo, there is some movement off the backline in this side. Edwards decent again too for what it’s worth.

• Darling will die for this club. I know some people cooled on him after the offseason shenanigans, but his output level and repeat desperate efforts are so impressive. First half huge, starved of opportunity late.

• Exxon. Building on building on building. We need mids for help future and he should feature plenty.

Negatives
• Midfield needs work and, as above, it’s time to turn it over to the youth with bit parts from the old boys. Not exactly clean conditions tonight, but they got lost out there.

• Running out of legs the theme of this season, although on a night like tonight the fittest team in the world would have faded. Needs addressing and no doubt it will.

• The next three words Pavlich strings together will be a record. How is this bloke on broadcast TV 😂

Expected a metaphorical bath, the boys got a literal one but dug in desperately.

One more to go then into the fun stuff.

Tommy Barrass, Topping FF's week in week out, bathing them and sending them home to their parents.
I managed to hook up a single player camera broadcast, so i didn't see anything else.
Lost the medal to Darcy :'(

P.S - It's a pokemon joke

The Schoey JK post game interview was so much better.
Pav managed to really crap the bed.
IDK if it was just because it was PROPPER retirement, but that was eh.
Barrass losing the medal to Darcy, he must have gotten votes while Badge was looking at Nic nat xD
Badge only giving mundy 2 more games, id rather they win a flag than half of the rest of the top 8.

The wheel is turning

I find that very hard to see Badge

Geelong next week ...pencil that in as another loss

We just do not make up field position...and the ball is consistently in our back half..our defence is great midfield is average bordering poor

Our forwards are okay with limited opportunities but they just do not lock it in just comes out too easily and eventually our defence will crack due to weight of entries

Barrass yes has been fantastic and should be made captain the leadership he has shown in a very average team is just fantastic AA full back for me.

Talking about leadership......its seriously time to look at both Nicnat and shuey both are letting the team down....Darcy cleaned up Nicnat tonight and really shuey is on his last legs

Thought duggan/hurn and gaff where good tonight showed leadership when we needed it

Darling okay but really should of kicked that goal at the start of the 4th.....needs to step up with no JK

Going forward lack of injuries is going to help but I just do not see a nucleus of a good side ...Midfield is very poor and the youngsters coming through are average plus the rucks are worse...Williams is just crap and Nicnat is always unfit

Hard years ahead

Positives
  • Barrass living rent free in Lobb's head. Huge game from him.
  • XON very good. Looks to be building and finding his feet as an all round balanced mid.
  • Thought that was Duggan's best game for the season. He found the right balance between being aggressive with the ball without biting off more than he can chew.
  • Boys brought the pressure. Great tackling all game.

Negatives
  • Nic Nat well beaten. Freo got a lot of drive from stoppage.
  • Injury to JJ
  • We really struggled to move the ball. Credit where it's due to how Freo setup. Win the stoppage, lock in behind the ball... rinse and repeat all night in the wet. There's the game.
Hard to be upset with where expectations were set. There are some glimmers to work with. Bring on a healthy list and a full pre-season with some fresh talent... we'll be right.

Darcy got the medal? The guy that ran at 25% disposal efficiency on the ground and kept kicking it to West Coast players?
I know he got a lot of hit outs and beat Naitanui but his kicking by foot was as bad as you'll likely see at AFL level. I mean he had 4 disposals to his team's benefit.

Full 9 votes, no one even questioned it. 50 some hitouts slogging in the wet got it done.

16 touches, five of which went directly to Eagles as turnovers. That leaves seven disposals deemed ineffective but not turnovers, and four effective.

He was strong in the ruck on a stoppage heavy day but **** I just did not see unanimous best on ground from him. Gifted us half of our moves as much as he built any of Freo’s.

Got the medal on a winning team, no issue with that because that’s how it typically works, but not seeing this second coming of Christ performance we’re hearing about.

Eagles midfield got worked over plenty on their own, you could switch the rucks and the midfield duel wouldn’t have gone any better for West Coast.

We turned up. For 4 quarters we tackled, made second and third efforts and we went in to bat for each other.

We ran out of legs and still tried our guts out.

You can barrack for a team like this.

We got soundly beaten but I'm feeling positive

Well done Duggo. Played footy to his potential tonight.

Barrass. A colossus.

X'on. Please kick on from here.

Positives
- first half tackling pressure. No corrale, that was as good an intensity as we’ve played with for a long time.

- Barrass continues his rare form. He’s been unbelievable the second half of the year.

- Duggan and O’Neill both showed plenty. That chase down by X was exemplary.

Negatives

- Nic getting well beaten in the ruck. Practically unheard of. He didn’t look right tonight. No lift and no impact.

- Still way too many passengers. There’s a lot of dead wood to cut.

Centre Bounce Attendnaces, 18 total.

Nelson - 14
Shuey - 12
O’Neill - 10
Redden - 8
Clark - 4
Gaff - 3
Jones - 2
SPS - 1

Naitanui - 13
Dixon - 5

Clark involved in all four of the centre bounces after he subbed on is the best part for me. SPS 1! His first for months!

18 total is remarkably low, has been mid 20s (at least) for weeks.

Yeah, pretty much on point.
Also got gifted about 3 free kick clearances on technical free kicks (like our 3rd 6-6-6 violation).
Early in the fourth quarter he had three disposals in a row and he kicked all three to West Coast players.

Positives
  • Backline's effort again - Barrass and Hurn as usual, but good to see Duggan join in. Bazzo and HEdwards weren't that bad either. Could Duggan now get back on the ball?
  • XON gave it absolute crack, can't fault his effort.
  • Pressure was excellent, albeit unsustainable.
Negatives
  • Nic Nat is cooked. If he can't get a full pre-season in next year, he is done.
  • Gaff is cooked. No next year for him. Has absolutely no ability with the ball anymore.
  • Liam Ryan looks uninterested. So much talent, but he fades in and out way too much.
  • Why is Zac Langdon getting a game?
  • Why isn't Clark on the ball every game?
  • Despite the pressure, chasing is completely non-existent. Freo waltzed away from stationary Eagles so often. We can't win with this.

He's old and coming off 2 knee reconstructions. He's lost a lot of speed and jumping power. Nothing lasts forever.

He was definitely playing with an injured knee tonight. See the chase in the 3rd or 4th quarter. He couldn't push off with that leg and from memory that is his recent knee injury leg and not the one properly ****ed from his first recon.

Nah they’ll do ok. They’re good but young, and often that comes unstuck in finals.

Would rather them win than any Vic club that’s for sure. Less palatable than the other non Vics but we’ll see how they go in many of their player’s first finals campaign.

Fairly predictable finish with Freo running the game out better. Fair effort and intensity tonight just lacked more winners across the ground. Weather kept the scores down which helped us keep the losing margin down also. At least Melbourne won to keep them out of the top 4.

Regarding Nic, remember this:

Our club spruiked, hell, they all nigh gloated, that Nic Nat had a full an uninterrupted pre season this year

Yet he looks heavier then ever, and he can hardly jump

Coming off 2 knee reconstructions, at the back end of career, whilst simultaneously being fatter then ever will do that to a man

But rather then ask him the hard questions and take him to task, everyone dances around the obvious and pretends Nic is in shape

Natanui is a legend, no doubt. But at this point in career the club needs to stop p*ssing in his pocket and hammer him on the bleeding obvious: at present, he is too heavy

Get him lighter, get him fitter, and he may just extend his career

But keep going as we are going and pretending that he is fit and everything is all good when it clearly isn't, and nobody wins

Great effort all around. Love to see the team play with that much spirit.

In the end just got absolutely smoked in the midfield. Predictably, considering the personnel.

Huge games from Barrass, Duggan and Hurn. Very good from XON too - has really found some nice form lately.

Didn't mind Nelson on the tag. Not quite a 're-sign this guy' amazing, but did his job and set the tone for the whole team.

A few liabilities though and some players a bit down on recent form. One more week.
