Watching Hill's goals again. I love the fact he went for those in the first place. Guarantee that everyone else on our list runs away from the player between himself and the goals looking for a handball release out back. Hill saw the goals, knew his surroundings, realised he was being corralled instead of tackled and used some Pendlebury like skills to move the defenders with the fakes and make his own space for a much simpler kick.

Better result than trying to share with a player who immediately gets tackled.

Injury to sloane would hurt but I don't see much weakness in their Midfield perfect balance of ball winning and outside spread.
Sloane going down would be a massive loss to the crows.

Contested ball is still their big weakness - they have the outside run & a forward line the envy of all.

But Sloane is the contested bull. Lose him, and I don't think either of the crouch bros are ready to lead a midfield on their own. We beat them in round 23 minus Sloane and WE beat them in the contested ball. That should tell you something.

Laird and Smith off half back are also very underrated, I think. They get so much drive from both of those guys.

I'm happy to see Pyke do well- but how many 6-0 sides go on to actually win it?

Sloane is leading that stat for the crows (94), followed by Matt crouch (82). Daylight between them & 3rd/4th. (Douglas on 61, Laird 51, in case you were wondering.)

Numbers don't tell the whole story, obviously- however Take out Sloane or Crouch and they are vulnerable, IMO.

jacobs finding form is also a reason to why they have improved. However, one ruckmen he struggles against is NN and hopefully we can have NN then to nullify his influence.

Giles has him covered :)

Positive was our intent and hunger the first half. Changed our effectiveness and disposal skills.
Negatives after half time going back to our second to the ball and lack of intensity shit.

We aren't good enough to do this. Downhill skiers still remains.
Lack of killer instinct constantly. Until they find that, middle of top 8 best hope. Darling should play like lynch at the crows, as he has the capability, but wants to wrestle his opponent. Sheppard out of form with his marking and spoiling. Hey guys, here's a tip, grit your teeth and go hard. You will all improve 20%, you wont get injured and by doing that, everyone follows. Dont want it bad enough, have fun playing WAFL. Jeez when i played sport, no matter what game, winning was everthing and i gave it my all every week. I did not get paid, your getting terrific money to perform, so as a member who is paying your income, i expect your absolute best week in week out. Show me that my money is well spent. Killer Instinct

Positives:
Gov is in backline
Young guns Duggo and Sheed keeping there spots and improving
Beating Failmantle!!

Negatives:
Vardy injury

Sheed was very good,Duggan continues to improve.I dont get the writers in the West; they gave Giles a 3 out of ten.I thought he competed really well. The biggest single negative was the injury to Vardy. Not the fact that he injured his elbow but that he didnt break his #*@# arm for that pathetic attack on the marking contest. If he had gone hard at the ball instead of watching who was coming he would have smashed [ legitimately ] Fyfe.Fyfe watched the ball and Vardy watched him and hung out a lazy arm.Symtomatic of the Eagles when your biggest musclebound lug wont go hard at the contest.

Even if Vardy gets up for this week, I would give him a week or maybe two off as he does have a poor injury history. McInnis has found some form over the last few weeks and could do a decent job against the powers second ruck and/or the dogs second ruck. I really wouldn't mind seeing Giles rucking(lol autocorrect just changed that to ****ing) majority of the game and allowing fmac to spend forward majority of the time. The good thing about fmac is that helps up our forward structure and knows how to create space for others and if our midfield can get on top he could potentially get 2-3 goals this week as the power don't really have great kpd stocks.

I wish we had a player like Sloan is he a pure jet.

I think we will have a crack next week but i cant see us winning.Tho to be truthful i wasnt that impressed by Port.Wellingham was a walking ****up on Sat.Sheppherd wasnt that good.Masten needs to go,lecras' time is up,and no matter how many times the West talks up Priddis and his stats; he needs to be phased out.Darling was better but at home in his comfort zone he generally is.As i have continually said we are not in premiership mode.Sorry; i should have said we are not a chance in hell of being in premiership mode.We should be using this NN/Lycett free time to rejig our midfield which Sheed,Duggan and Mutimer are part of; and using the time to ease Priddis out.I think next year we will be much better placed.

Masten's game was underrated imo. 32 touches at 84 per cent efficiency. Wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty either, when we clearly needed to lift in that area after last week

Bittersweet with him isn't it? Finally sticks a really strong tackle, falls in the bloke's back and gives away the free.

Yeah what a surprise. Playing against a softer playing than him, in a team that dominated and won by a large margin, Masten has an alright game. Just enough to keep him in the side for the rest of the year.

He won't make an impact this week.

Have seen Adelaide in this position before (April premiers) and they haven't gone on with it as the season got longer. Different coaching staff of course so who knows, maybe this is their time? Can remember Carlton back in 1995(I think) when they only lost 1 match for the whole year and went into win the flag, so it can be done. Pyke and his players have to be commended so far but it's a marathon, not a sprint.

That was the same year they cheated the salary cap; flag tainted!

Even got a solitary coaches vote for his game!

Pretty sure I even saw him fend off Brad Hill at one point, it was probably awarded for that effort alone.
